They are nice little rifles, not sure of how the quality works out.

They weigh nothing!

I have only seen them and handled them. I have never shot one. I have a lot of experience with the Montana version.

The two Montanas I have been shooting are 7mm-08's. Funny thing about the Montana is that you can flute and machine off more weight out of a Montana as the Ascent's stock weighs more.

Neat looking but I am in full agreement with Ted. I like my rifles without brakes.

The anul retentive perfectionist who expects bug hole accuracy might want to stay away. Rifles this light have good hunting accuracy, but don't try to enter any target matches. Wish they made one in a short or standard action 6.5 for less recoil, but the 308 is certainly still great.

Brake screws off.

I like my 260 Montana and 30-06 84L Clasic, great for factory rifles.

This is more better Big Grin

Would like to try one.

Cheers, Chris

Bases on my experience of owning a Kimber Montana 270 WSM, I'll not be owning one. Neither I nor Kimber could get it to shoot accurately.

I have a Tikka T3 in 308. Probably not as light as these Kimbers but it IS accurate.

I agree with df06. I will never own another Kimber rifle. If I nor the factory can get a 308 to shoot better than 3"-4" at 100 then no thanks. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

I just bought my fifth Kimber. Haven't shot it yet, but I routinely shoot the .270 WSM and 7 Rem out to 650 yards on my little private range and the .338 Win and 22/250 out to 500. I never bought a Kimber to shoot 1000, win a benchrest match or shoot F-Open you have to remember what it is.

So far there is a bit of a trend where the paper thin barrels like forend pressure and cold barrels. Working up loads can take awhile when you're keeping barrels cold.

Or just find yourself a trim little Savage Model 1920, in .250-300 or .300 Savage.

Kimber does need lessons in QC.Yes I know how to improve things But I shouldn't have to at that price. My Montana didn't have the free floating barrel it should have . A small shim fixed that . The blind magazine had to be cut down a significant amount.Crown was OK. Trigger came adjusted 2.25lbs , Very nice ,just right for a .223.

Ascent ? Strange holes in strange places .Maybe Titanium is too much for them .Not impressed.

I'd like to have one.
I think a short action in 6.5-284 or just a .284 would be one hell of a mountain rifle.
I noticed that they missed an opportunity to "ventilate" the trigger guard and could probably lighten up another half ounce there.
I didn't see a muzz brake on it but if they have one cut that off too.
If that rifle shoots under an inch and a half at 100 yards it would be one hell of a mountain hunting rifle.

I checked one out at a local shop yesterday. I don't know how it shoots, but I will say that they got the stock right. Very slender and trim, feels really good. Not crazy about the brake either but would like to shoot it with and without just for grins.
