Got another sweetheart yesterday evening, Sendero SFII in 7RM. My initial observation on the rifle: Looked and felt pretty good. The HS stock on these new Senderos has the palm swell like the Police model HS sells. It has two front swivels for a bipod. Nice finish on the stock (Black w/ the grey web). Alittle stock material was on the bedding block but easily came off w/ sand paper. Barrel channel just a hair out of center but the barrel is still floated plenty all around (it'll be centered when I get through bedding ). Trigger wasn't too terrible but, I quickly brought it down to 2.5 lbs, set the engagement, and set the over travel which turned out for a quite nice feel for just a plain ole' factory trigger. The stainless has more of a shine (polished alittle more) than my previous stainless fluted Sendero. The Black flutes make it look sharp. Last night I mounted a VX II 6-18x40 AO FD in low DD Leupie mounts. She sure looks good, the low mounts worked great and gave me about a 16th clearance on the barrel. Hoepfully I'll get to do my break-in w/in the next couple of weeks and see how she does. I'll give a range report once I've had a chance to run a few loads through it. I'm well pleased so far, she's a bute. Have a Good One Reloader

This is a wonderful time, a virgin awaiting the inevitable. Go easy on her! But enjoy the heck out of her too! Hope she shoot 1/2 MOA or better. Member NRA, SCI- Life #358 28+ years now! DRSS, double owner-shooter since 1983, O/U .30-06 Browning Continental set.

sounds like a heck of a nice rifle, I love a leupold scope too, but I can't understand why anyone would want that much magnifacation on a 7mag. But thats just me. I had a 4.5X14 on an STW and I decided that was to much, thinking a 3.5X10 will go on her somday. On most of my rifles I like the 2.5X8, I think I am gonna get a 1.5X5 for my 7X57 full stock CZ...tj3006 freedom1st

Yes, I'm hoping she'll shoot as good as she looks. Hopefully she'll go less than 1/2" like my other HB Remingtons. tj3006, Yeah, nothing wrong w/ a low powered scope and yes this one is a pretty high power but, I'm a high powered optic kind of guy. Heck, I hunt w/ 6X when I'm in woods or in thick cover where really close shots are frequent. Some folks say they have a hard time aquiring game w/ such a high power scope but, I personally have never had a problem w/ it even when set at high powers, I can easily find game. Sort of comes natural like pointing a shotgun I guess. The Fine Duplex is also quite nice for paper punching. Have a Good One Reloader

Hey Reloader, I'm with TJ on this(HA). I can't understand it(being so under-powered) either since mine has a 6.5-20x on it. Sure is nice when you are taking a bunch of Doe and trying to leave yearling Spikes. Right nice when taking l-o-n-g-e-r shots too. Best of luck with the new rifle.

You can say that again. I was sitting on a gas line last year w/ my 700 Police topped w/ a 6-18 Nikon when a few yearlings popped out about 210, I cranked her up to 18 and zoomed in on the little boogers to investigate. Ended up letting them go on by and took the wife out to the same spot the next evening. Luckily they popped back out at about 150 and eased in for about a 110 shot, she took out one of the older nans for her first whitetail. I love it when a plan comes together. Ok guys if it works for you, Somthing tells me you might be in a position to do more shooting than I do, meaning I am a city boy, I really only get to shoot on weekends. making it hard for me to justify shooting game at really long ranges. But I do recall a shot I made with the 4.5X14 on my stw once. I had just shot a group that was well under a quarter inch (3 shots at 100) And I could plainly see the clear plastic tack that was holding up the target, I had the guy next to witmess, and then I vaporized the tack with a 160 grain Accubond going about 3200 FPS...tj3006 freedom1st

Hey TJ, I've got some lower power scopes too, even have a nice old(made in El Paso) Weaver K3-C3. It is a 3x with a Tapered Post reticle. Fits and works right well on a 444Mar. It just depends on what a person is trying to accomplish as to what fits the requirements the best. And my tired old eyes sure appreciate a bit of extra scope power from time to time. It is a miserable feeling to be culling Does and walk up to find a Spike Buck laying on the ground, even illegal in some areas. The last Spike that got "saved" by me was about 80yds from me, inside the woods about 45min "before" sunrise. Didn't intend to go to this Stand, but I found an unexpected visitor in the one I'd headed for. So, the 7mmMag with the 6.5-20x went where I'd normally go with the 444Mar. Saw two Deer easing through the woods with a pair of 10x50 binoculars, but it was too dark to see them with my eyes. Looked like a couple of Doe. Legal killing begins 1-hour prior to Sunrise there, so it would have been fine to shoot it. However, just as I got lined up, I cranked the scope up a bit and sure enough the larger one had small Spikes - a first year Buck. Might have blasted it with the Marlin. I've thought a good bit about that since then. Not sure the 3x is really what " I " need on it now. Don't take that as negative toward "your" scope selections. You need to use what works well for you, not what works well for anyone else. Just remember there are some benefits from a higher power scope, just as there are some negative(weight, physical size, etc.). Best of luck to you. --- Alright Reloader, how did it shoot???

Hopefully Friday HC, I haven't even had a chance to load any rounds for it yet. Tonight I'm going to load some 150 MKs, 150 NBTs, and 140 ABs w/ R22 and H4831 just for a break-in on Friday Morning. Hopefully it will be a piece of cake to find a winner load in it. Have a Good One Reloader

Chalk it up to another great shooting Remington to add to the safe. Not too shabby HC, typical Remington 700 performance. First group out of her during break-in went alittle shy of 1/2" at 100 and that was after a good cleaning in between each shot! Throughout the break-in procedure it printed some groups right close to 1/2 w/ a couple smaller and a few in the .6-.7 range. Not bad at all considering all of the cleaning in between shots and random load selections. I am very confident that I will find it to consistently break 1/2 MOA once I begin load developement. After I bed it, it may do even better Another reason I keep coming back to the good ole' 700 Ya'll have a Good One Reloader
