Mehul, I wonder if these rifles are really .308? Russia actually uses .311 or even .312 bore for their .30 calibers. If the barrel to these were indeed the larger diameters, I don't think you'd get great accuracy.

Perhaps you need to stalk the gunshows and see what deals you can turn up on used rifles there. I've never been one to buy anything without feeling it in my hands and looking it over first. This practice has done well for me over the years.

I bought a Mauser with a new barrel and custom stock on a military action from a member in Texas and it is really beautiful. I agree with you that my luck may not be as good with the Russian riflee and I am going to listen to the other members here and give them a pass.

I have not heard of any gun show here in Appleton - perhaps it is too small a town for gun shows to take place? I'll ask at the Rod and Gun Cllub here and find out if there are any shows near here and visit them even if I don't buy anything. I am sure they would be fun to go to.
