Last fall I bought two new Kimber 84M Classics. One is a 260 Rem and the other a 7mm-08. I enjoy the rifles a lot and in general feel they are a platform that may do what an expensive Ultra Light will do for less money. Not that they are cheap or without the need for TLC. They go for about $800 with the Kimber bases. The 260 is shooting well again. It did have a burp and started slinging one MOA groups but now it's down to less than MOA. Below is a picture of a group fired on 3-3-04 at 100 yds. Keep in mind that it was windy and the rifle was hand held with no butt bag. The group is the second from the left. The load is the 95 gr VMax at 3200 fps. Note that the group is really too high at 100 yds. I sight high velocity rifles in 1" high at 200 yds and that impact may mean that the rifle did not stay sighted in. This rifle functions very well. As you know they have CRF and nice chambers. With the oversize MT Palomar on it it's less than seven pounds and still handles well.

This is how it shot the first two shots today. Again the rifle was hand held. The distance is the same 100 yds. I had clicked it down the last time and it stayed sighted in.

Savage; Have the same pair coming, intend to keep one. What was load in the 260, if I may ask. Thanks

The only load I am shooting now is the 95 gr VMAX, 43 grs of RL 15, CCI Br, Lee Collet, Redding Competition seater and Rem brass. The velocity is just over 3200 fps. It shoots 100 Hornadys and 120 Hot Cores about the same but I would only use this rifle for easy going varmint walking thus the one load. The 7mm-08 has been at the smiths for a month to have the LOP shortened. That's the one I will hunt game with.
