Does any body have any feedback on sauer 202 rifles, good or bad? I was thinking about one in 300 Win Mag. Thanks

I have thought about getting one myself. The rifles balance well and look great. I wanted one with the wood stock, great looking wood. I think the versatility is great with the switch barrel design. For the money, I think they are a great rifle. If you get one, let us know how it shoots.

Good luck!

I had one in 300 mag. ding dong that I am I sold it for a Weatherby, worst trade of my life. Oh well you live and learn I guess. I liked mine alot, it was just to pretty to take out anywhere. Go for it and get one, you wont be dissapointed. Mine was very accurate.

I used my factory demo in both .300 win mag and .30 06. We liked them very much, they were a little on the heavy side but very accurate. Out of the box they almost shoot as well as the Blaser. Both of the Sauers trounced our Weatherby demo. [Smile] I like the take down on the Sauers very much. My favourite is the light weight 202, some times called the LAW.

A 202 in 9.3-62 and a smaller bore would be interesting. I asked a dealer here to make an inquiry as I said I would buy one with another barrel in .270. He never really checked.

Blazer chambers for the 9.3-62 so I hoped a request might start the ball rolling.

It's interesting to read the range report on the 202. All I have done is handle one but what with all the reports of bad out of the box new rifles I have a feeling that the Sauer 202 might have an excellent chance of being made right.

At the range at 100 yds here are what the guns did
Blaser 93 9,3x62mm
Norma 286 grs .5" for three shots
Superior Woodleigh Solid .45" for three shots
A2 Monolithic .75" for three shots

Sauer 202 .30 06
Hornaday Light Magnum 180 grs .53" for three shots
Remington 220 grs RN .62" at 100 yds

Blaser K 95 30 06 .60" for three shots with Hornaday light magnum

Blaser .30 06 R 93 with 150 grs Remington Core Lokt .40" for three shots

220 Remington RN .75 to 1.00" at 100 yds

Sauer 202 Take down .300 win mag
Federal Premium 180 grs Nosler Partition .75" for three shots

Blaser R93 .300 win mag .42" or less at 100 yds for three shots with Federal Premium Nosler Partiotions and Black Hills 190 grs match

While not a controlled experiment it looks to me they both shot really well

I have the previus model (Sauer 200)who is very similar to this model (sauer 202). My Sauer have 3 barrels: 7x64 Brenneke; 25-06 and 30-06. All the barrels shot at 150 meters no more of 1" or 1 1/2", three shots, factory or reload. For me, excellent rifle.

I bought my Sauer 200 some 15 years ago and must have shot over 5.000 rounds trough the same barrel. Still shooting sub MOA groups, superb trigger, smooth action, so what more would you want? If a would buy a new rifle: Sauer 202 without any doubt.

Paladin, I've posted elsewhere about my Sauer 200 and can't say often enough: No one who ever bought a 200 or 202 has has been disapointed in their performance. American guns have plastic magazine bases which offends many at this price (incuding me) but that can be remedied. All of them shoot like gangbusters, usually with the first two touching and the third less than 1 inch away. Cliff LaBounty @ LaBounty Reboring can rebore & chamber factory barrels if you want something special, too. Great guns for the money.

I just returned from Namibia where I used a Sauer 202 on a variety of plains animals. Good rifle, accurate, but I can't learn to like the pushbutton safety in particular the "off" button in the triggerguard.
