I have 2 of the AWR. One in 375 H&H and one in 7SAUM. I am very pleased with both of them. They are both accurate and the workmanship is great. I'd buy another one in 338 Win Mag if they still offered it.

I have owned two (2) of them, both in 300 win mag. Both were accurate and very well finished. I did not like the ejection of them-was awfully weak.

marley and bluecollar,

How would compare them to a standard Rem 700.

A mate of mine is looking at the African Plains Rife and African Big Game Rife and the stuff is quite expensive by the time it gets to Australia.

Have tried them with non windage adjustment scope mounts like Leupold Dual Dove Tails and if so did the sope line up OK

As compared to a model 700 remington the AWR is more refined, lighter, better finished and fitted and more than able to handle the elements.

Thanx guys I am really considering one. I am just worried about the accuracy (or lack there of). After all this is like a $1400 rifle. Does the Custom Shop guarrantee accuracy?

You've owned Custom Shop guns in the past, and gotten rid of every single one. They don't make 'guarantees'; they have 'standards' which are pretty low.

Why would you consider yet another?

Just wanted to hear about other shooters' experiences with these. Also I love its looks. By far my favorite CS rifle.

the AWR IS NOT a $1400 gun. you should be able to pick a nice one (98%) up for $900 to $1,000 max.

Marley,

Based on the AWR's Remington price as compared to Senderos, BDLs etc that rifle would sell in an Australian gun shop for about $3000AUS or $2300US!!!!

POP, I've got one in 7 RUM that I bought last year. Took it to Alaska this past fall, shot a nice moose with it, didn't get my dall sheep. Overall I like the rifle, particularly the light weight and trim feel. Accuracy has been 1" - 1 1/2" groups with 160 gr. A frames and 140 grain partitions. I am not crazy about the blind magazine, but overall like the rifle. Ironically enough, I will likely sell it in the near future, as I have too many others in similar calibers that I like as well. Feel free to PM me if you have more questions,
Regards
Craig

Well, Mike375 you need to move over here to the good ol'USA. Spend less on guns gives you more for brew! Sounds like there is too much tax on those weapons for my liking.

20% import duty and 10% Goods and Services tax. Then there will be the costs associated with bringing the rifles in and keeping them for sale to gun shops.

It would be good if somehow we could combine the two countries. You have all the guns and at the good prices but we have the number of the animals and open spaces and can shoot the animals day or night until the barrel melts.

However, like everything else in life it never seems to be possible to get the whole thing together.

I would LOVE to know where I can buy a new AWR for that price! The cheapest I have seen is 1290 new in box! Any input?

POP,

This kind of accuracy isn't going to cut it for you, is it?

Hell no! Sub -moa or bust.

Now is that too much to ask for from a $1300 rifle? Shheeesh!

If it wasn't for the light weight I'd buy a SAKO 75 or something and call it a day! At least I know they shoot!

As I've posted previously, I don't shoot nearly as much as it seems most of this forum's members do, so sub-moa is probably realistic; I went to the range 1 time with the rifle brand new before I went to Alaska, spent maybe 2 hours sighting in with the 2 loads. I would think the rifle can do what you want it to, although my Wby Ultralight in .270 Wby got 3/8" groups with 140 gr X's with the same amount of time at the range...

I want to start off by saying that I know that some people have had problems with their Remingtons but I have nothing but great things to say about them.

I bought my 1st AWR used for $850.00 it's a 375 H&H in GREAT condition.

I took it to the range to do some load developement shortly after recieving it. Most of the posters problably won't believe my results but I'm going to post them anyway. If someone can help me post a pic I'll give photo evidence to back it up.

I loaded 5 rounds with IMR 4064 in one grain increments using Nosler Paritions in 260 grain. WW brass and Remington 9 1/2 primers. I want to say work your loads up properly if your going to try these. I started with 68.0 and went up to 72.0 The first 3 shots were in one hole. Group size measured .301. The next 2 opened up a little for a 5 shot group size, with a 375 of .860 inches. All with different powder increments. Needless to say I was very happy.

I also had loaded 5 rounds with RL-15 in the one grain increments. My first 3 shots measured .579 with the last two measuring 1.112. I don't think anyone could complain about that. The groups with the RL-15 are 3 holes, it's hard to tell where all the bullets went.

I liked this rifle so much I bought another in 7SAUM and would love to find one in 338WM. I can't say enough about the quality of these rifles.

POP, if your interested in an AWR call Robert at Shooters Edge in Spokane Mo. 417-587-6197. Best I remember he had one in 300 weatherby mag for $900.00 (used). I can not remember the calibre of the other one -he had two for sale. There are alot of them advertised for $1,250 but they aren't moving. I have passed on many at $900.00.
