Just messing with one today for the first time. Barrel breakin and stuff and only two bullets tried after getting to the 3 shot and clean groups but was showing .75-1.00" with 150 and 168 NBT's and Benchmark powder. NS'd the brass tonight and will test more thouroughly soon. Just wondered if any of you all had one of these. This one is the 24" fluted model........like I needed another varminter!! I had one... it was so bad I sent it back. When it was returned, it shot just fine. Remember, forgivness is easier to get than permission.

Second range day with it today and was pretty much in agreement with sending it back. Shot some 130 grain Speer HP that made me think it needs another few tests! This one is in the Hogue Pillar Bedded stock, not the Full length bedding. If it only likes the light stuff, so be it! I would rather it liked the 155's, 168's but I'll play with it a bit more. GHD .......PS: Should have known better! You can't improve on the 308 case necked down to 264.....260 Remington!! Groundhog Devastation(GHD)

It just may be a blood and guts varminter!! It likes 110 grain VMaxs and also 130 grain Speer HP!! Seems to like them real good!! I'm going to do something that is uncharacteristic of GHD and go groundhog hunting tomorrow, 3/19!!(Don't shoot groundhogs before Memorial Day!! Let them procreate so there are "target rich environments") My buddy who is suffering through some "ain't no cure for these diseases" wants to go groundhog hunting and so I am going to go with him. Tested the 308 again and used the light bullets and it was holding it's own at 100 yard testing. 1/2 to 3/4" for 3 shot groups so will try to launch a few tomorrow. Pics if successful!! i shoot an FN SPR, which is pretty much the same thing as the patrol bolt rifle. Mine shoots great. Got it from CDNN years ago when they were cheap. Does very well. I shoot groundhogs with both the 175 grain sierras and the 165 SST bullets. A buddy has a patrol bolt rifle with a silencer. We run 150 grain 30-30 bullets and around 9.6 grains of trail boss. Very quiet and it shoots well out to 200 yards.

Mine shoots well. I don't like the four round magazine, the edges are sharp and cut my fingers. Also rounds slide out the back when loading. The FN PBR is the best example of machining that I have seen on a M70, and that includes pre War M70's. I installed a Jewell trigger. Total drop in on these PBR's. They have the old M70 trigger.

You can now buy just the actiion. I have two of them. I don't know this for a fact, but it sounds like they didn't put a tight enough twist in the barrels. I notice that my actions show evidence of once having a barrel. It's a good action. At this point in time I'm going to turn one into a .300 rsaum. I will work on the mag and open up the bolt face. The other one will probably become a .338 Federal. A friends will be a .260 Rem. A.I. Should have these done by August.........Tom SCI lifer NRA Patron DRSS DSC
