How many .358 rifle calibers are in your battery? I can say a couple of 358 WCFs. Looking to rebarrel a Sako Forrester and a 600 carbine to go with my other two. Then several grands can hunt with Grumpa at once. Let's hear from Y'all now. Packrattusnongratus

I have three .358 Wins. When my kid was small he heard all about my favorite 99 in that caliber and he wanted one for himself to hunt with so thats why I have two of them now.

You see that gun kicked too much for him and he now hunts with a 7mm-08 and that has a Decelerator on it. My other .358 is a M70 safe queen.

The 358 kicks pretty hard and thats with 200 gr bullets.

I have both ends of the spectrum covered with a 358 win and a 358 STA. The win is more fun to shoot but thats cause I like the gun and its a little different (BLR). Oh ya and it does kick but nothing like the STA!

Currently a .356 Win and a 35 Whelen Remington 7600. Have been thinking about a .358 STA, I've been impressed with that cartridge since it came out.

I shoot two .358 STA's. Both are customs, one from the Winchester Shop the other by a rifle builder in Wyoming, also on a Winchester Model 70 action. Both are super accurate, and are my go to rifles for all my hunting and my sons. We hunt Colorado each year for Elk, Alaska occasionally, Alberta and Africa once each. Both these rifles are awesome in performance in the field, each has a Leupold Vari X III scope. With bullets from 225 grains up to 300 grains we have taken many Elk, Deer, and a few plains game in Africa. If you reload you can make the STA's really rock, at any distance you want to hunt. wave thumb Good shooting.

I have a Sako AII in 358 and just purchased a Winchester Featherweight in 7-08 from KIMD, that's going to be a 358 win when it gets back from Pac-Nor.

I think they reproduce when the safe door is closed. Well, that's what I tell my wife. Wink

Just one .358 win. Sako Forester Carbine. 20", full stock, 2-7 Leupold.

Hey Dr. Lou, whats the spec's on the Pac Nor barrel. Are they matching contour of the old barrel to drop in, or... Stainless or CM?

Lastly, how much $$

I have one Sako Forester rifle left in .243. It needs to become a .338 Fed and Im considering both rebore and rebarrel options. 22-24" if I replace and most likely SS.

I have a Whelen on a mauser and am about to start on another one on a Model 70 classic. I also have a model 70 classic in 7mmStw, witch would make a beautifull STA but it shoots great in the STW so it,ll likly say a 7mm...tj3006

I use a Husqvarna .358 Norma Magnum...easier to shoot (not as severe recoil as a .338 WinMag)..
almost pleasant...(my .35 Whelan is actually pleasant!) I think the .35 calibers are largely overlooked & unrecognized. I like them.
Best Regards, Tom

Blacktail, I just received the rifle on Friday. But according to their website, they will cut the barrel (stainless) to the factory contour, chamber it, install, lap the lugs, and true the action for about $460. I will know more after I speak with them. Lou

Jerry/AK, the 35/284 sounds intriguing. I was enamored of the 375/284 for years but haven't found the 284 yet in a 99. Maybe some day I will find a rat 99 to be rebarelled from 284. Then the dilemna will begin. beer Packrattusnongratus

Two at the moment: a rebarrelled M70 in 358Win and a Ruger 350RM. I'm negotiating on a 35Whelen (M700) and may rebarrel another M700 into a 358STA or Norma. Also have plans for a No4 rebarrel to 303/35.
Cheers...

Jerry, I just bought a beat up BLR 81 with the intent of spinning a 35/284 barrel on it. Seemed like a good thing to do. Any suggestions as to dies, reamers, etc? TIA, Dutch.

I have Springefield 03 in 35 Whelen, and a 98K in 358 Norma. Would like to find a "shooter" model 88 in 358 win, but that isn't going to be easy!

.357 Mag, .35 Rem (x2), .356. .35 Whelen (x3) not counting pistols.

I have a Rem 660 in .243 that I love, but it sure would be nice if it could change into a .358 Win in about 10 minutes...that really could do it all at least in North America and most other places too.

One it's a pre 64 M-70 featherweight .358 Win in like new condition.

That round kills all out of proportion to what it should by looking at paper tables.

It's a regular little death hammer on hogs and such with 225 gr NBT's and TSX's.

I've got a hankering for a 358 on a SMLE #4 action... it'll handle 308, so why not 358?

Slick action, 10 shot mag... rechargeable using stripper clips... aperture sights... what a brush gun for pigs!!!

If it won't handle 358, maybe 35/303... Ahh... dreams are so much cheaper than reality!!! Big Grin

Uncertain if this would do but I resently saw a SMLE #4 rechambered/rebored/rebarreled??? to 45/70. Think the modifications were done by a company named Century. There were several guns at a gun shop in Clare, Michigan (US). Name of the shop is Jays.
