Hi all ...I know , I,ve bragged up the mid weight bullets in the 9.3 , But curiosity got the best of me and I tried some 285 gr Norma Orynx bullets in my 9.3x64 B. . I thot RL 15 would be a good powder .. I was very wrong .... Anyone have any good data with the 285 gr bullets in the 9.3x64 B . I don,t have any VV oy powder which is what looks very good in the AR Reloading pages .... One load I can emphatically state not to use is RL 15 with 285 gr bullets .......It works GREAT with the 250 gr bullets but not with 285 gr .......Thanks .... gumboot .. .If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

http://www.nosler.com/index.php?p=15&b=9.3mm&s=283 I have found IMR 4895 to be cooperative and forgiving. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~

Thanks for the replies and the link ... Nosler shows that RL 15 in the top powder , , maybe the Partition is a slicker bullet than a moly tumbled Orynx but 64.5 gr of RL 15 blew a primer in my rifle .. Actually I was thinking 66 grains would be the top load . and with 65.5 gr I got 2626 fps . But had a blown primer . so I backed off 1 grain and still got a blown primer . 64.5 gr gave me 2610 fps @ 18 feet ... I don,t know .. 64 gr gave me 2400 fps .. ??????????????? .If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

On the other end of the 9.3mm bullet weight spectrum, 69grns of H-4350 gives around 2350fps mv with 320grn Woodleigh's from a 9.3x64B. STANDARD FED Primers.

I’ve just started loading for the 9.3x64. So far I’ve only tried the 286 Nosler Partition and the 286 Hornady. According to my chrono, I only get about 2550 fps with the Partitions before I get occasional sticky bolt lift and a little over 2400 fps with the Hornady. For me, max with the 286 Partition is about 75 grains of H4350 and 71 grains for the 286 Hornady. My rifle is a rechambered CZ550 9.3x62 American. These have been with the Fed 215 primers. I’m going to try again with the Fed210s. With my CZ550 in 9.3x62, I also get a little over 100 fps higher velocity with the 286 Partition versus the 286 Hornady, 66 grains of Big Game with the Partition @ about 2450 fps and 63 grains of the same with the Hornady @ at a little over 2300 fps. Gumboot Ray Atkinson had posted some load data for the 9.3x64 and he had suggested this cartridge seemed to be a little fussy regarding primers. I believe he had suggested that going to a mag primers reduced the max load by approx 3 grs of powder. I have tried the data from the Nosler manual and my rifle will not handle the max loads using RWS brass. Perhaps I have a shorter throat in my rifle. I have also found that IMR 4320 is the most accurate and consistant powder with the 286 partitions and the 292 gr TUGs. Hopefully that will help

.. Thanks ,, I was wondering about the primer issue .. I was using WLRM primers ........ I think it is a round that has 1 or 2 really good recipes and if they can be found easily all is good ....... If I can find some 4320 I will try it ..It is my favorite 416 Taylor powder ......Kind of got me spooked on the round ....... .If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

Gumboot458, here's data from a load i tested last summer. My rifle is a rechambered CZ550FS 9.3x62 to 9.3x64. Brass is RWS with Fed 215MM primers. Bullets are 286 Nosler Partions. OAL is 3.450" VV550 69gr-2454 69gr-2530 69gr-2493 70gr-2535 70gr-2543 70gr-2539 71gr-2628 71gr-2577 71gr-2575 This was a little warm in my rifle. I plan on doing a lot more testing this summer and will share.
