Was just notified of a recall by Ruger of the latest African model in 9.3 x62. They will send a pickup and pay expenses so please check with your dealer. Mine is going back tomorrow. Cheers. Like

I think it is a very good possibility.

I just called and was told that they have issued a service bulletin, not a recall.

The reason I was given was that they may have assembled some rifles with a part that’s not up to Ruger’s specifications.

Call or email and give them your serial number. They will issue an RMA and call tag.

The following is the email I received from Ruger customer service :

Please reply with the serial number of your Hawkeye African Rifles. Please include all of your contact and shipping information.

I just know that they are sending a pickup to return my rifle tomorrow.if the person at Ruger didn’t know about it??? Oh well don’t know if the scam comment was aimed at me or not. I grew out of that stuff 76 years ago

Scam comment wasn’t aimed at anyone...just that crooks these days are damn crafty. I’ve never heard of a company actually calling people, which I have seen mentioned elsewhere.

Any idea what the part is, and if it applies to earlier African rifles? I've got a 338 made in 2015.
Thanks

Thank you for contacting Ruger Customer Service.
Your Customer Service Issue # is xxxxx
.. there may be a part on your rifle that does not meet our factory standard so we will need to have it come in to be looked at. We here in customer service do not have any further information on what that part is. Your dealer can call us to set up an RMA to have it come here to the factory. 336-949-5200 Thank you!

Given I have only heard this about the 9.3 African, I suspect it is a part specific to them.....the barrel? They are not saying

Interesting. They clearly don't want to say what it is, leading me to think it would be bad PR for them.

I got a call from a Ruger rep yesterday asking me to send the rifle back for servicing. They emailed me a prepaid shipping label with return instructions.
