I ordered a HS Presision stock (synthetic)for my Remington 3006 ADL.
I just had it bore sighted with my wooden stock installed before I decided to swith stocks.
When I put the new stock on, is it still bore sighted, or does it needed to be re-boresighted?
Thanks in advance,
W.

It will still be "boresighted" BUT that just means you will be on paper at 25yds....sometimes better......AND the HS stock will most likely change the point of impact from the wood stock UNLESS the bedding in the wood was stress free...the HS stock bolts need to be torqued to 40-45INCH lbs.....OR the shots will be all over the paper in the ones I have shot....but get the torque right and the stock will let the gun-load shoot to its best....hth..good luck and good shooting!!

The best bet for boresighting your bolt action rifle.

Pull the bolt.
Lay the rifle on a steady rest where you can see at least 25 yards. Farther is better.

I use the vent on a house roof several blocks away for a target.

Look down the barrel and center it on the "target"

Look through the scope or sights and move them until they point where the barrel does.

You will be able to hit paper at 25 yards and maybe 50 yards.

+1 on 45otto's method. It really works and has gotten me on paper real quick. I try to use the above method to center at 50 yards and then go to 100. Boresighting and then shooting at 100 yards can be an excercise in finding holes sometimes Frowner

I have found that by boresighting at 25 yds, then shooting & adjusting to dead on at this distance will put me very slightly high at 100 yds, depending on caliber & not too far off centre horizontally. From here its not much of a paper chase to get to where I want to zero at.

In all likelihood your Remington stock had a pressure point on the barrel at the end of the stock. The amount of pressure varies from rifle to rifle but all of them will bend the barrel enough to make a difference.

Most HS Precision stocks do not have pressure points so I will say that it will be pure luck if you are still boresighted.

Why don't you just bore sight it again and find out..that doesn't but about 5 minutes? better safe than sorry, might save you some ammo..I usually just bore sight it at the range before I sight one in, gets me on the paper at 100, then I make the adjustment and I'm sighted in.

To speed the sighting in up, just put your cross hair on the first shot hole and hold the gun there whil you sight and move the cross hair adjustments to put the x on the bullseye..sighted in in one shot after you get the hang of it, but you will be very close the first time if your careful and hold the gun steady..

I use the AimSite Laser Bore sighter now , used to do what Ray suggested and it works just dandy to .
I like the Laser bore site because you open up or remove the bolt put the laser cartridge in look through the scope does it match up ?. If not you sure know how to make it match before ever firing a shot .

Personally I think they're just a great little investment .

As long as the sights are mounted to the action the bore sighting woun't change. The point of impact probably will.

Speer, Sierra, Lyman, Hornady, Hodgdon have reliable reloading data. You won't find it on so and so's web page.
