I have opted to buy a Sauer 202 in 6.5x284 but gather that there is a 284 Norma and a 284 Win.

I have tried to contact Sauer directly to ask what their chambering is but cannot get any info from the supplier in the UK.Does anyone have any ideas which it is likely to be

It's interesting that Sauer may offer those cartridges. I like those 202's and would have ordered one in 9.3-62 along with a 270 Win barrel but they did not import the 9.3 barrel or rifle into the USA a couple of years ago.

Since then the prices have gone thru the roof here due to currency valuations. Back then a deluxe was about $1100 with a discount.

As to the answer to your question that's a job for your dealer too.

A few new calibres are listed on the sauer website together with their new take down model

The problem is that their UK agent don`t seem to know what they`re selling.When I phoned them I was told firstly that they didn`t know of the calibre and when my dealer pressed them that it was only available in the take down.I know thats not the case and have sent an e-mail to sauer direct but have received no reply as of yet

I can remember someone on this forum saying that there was a difference between the 284 Norma and 284Win and wanted to clear up the confusion(to confound it sauer list the 202 available in 6.5-284 and the 90 model in 6.5-284Norma)

The only difference between the 6.5-284 Win and the 6.5-284 Norma is the throat length. The former is for a short action (2.8" OAL), the latter is for a long action (3.3" OAL).

Same case dimensions.
