I have an older Leupold Vari X 11 2-7 on my cz and I reckon it's ideal for the 9.3x62.

Peopl criticise the speer 270 gr pill but I reckon it would be great on pigs given that I have shot 20 or so head of game with it and it's performed great.................granted it is not a Buff Bullet but nor was it designed to be.

I use a 2.5-8X Leupold and it has worked well in both the US and RSA. Have also used the 3-9x40 MC Zeiss Conquest. Recoil in this caliber is quite moderate and the CZ American rifle points well and is light and handy in the field. You'll like it!

I'm one of those guys who has had the other experience with Speer bullets. From both the 9,3x74R and the 9,3x62 the 270 gr Speer has broken up in game as small as whitetails and pigs for me. They killed OK and did exit, but the wound canals were full of chunks of bullet. The bullet path through the animals also curved rather wildly.

I really prefer the 286 gr Nosler. Wound canals are straight, all the way through, and clear of pieces of lead.

The Speer shoots great on paper.

I would go w/ the Leop. VXIII in 1.75x6. They are affordable here though. What do you have readily available in Scotland?

Thanks for all the advice, Scotland isn’t great for getting hold of things, but it just takes a little longer, I have had the permission on the FAC for some time now and its so rare to get the permission I thought id better find a gun before they revoke the decision, this one is already on the way over from the us and is unsold, risky business bringing that calibre over here just encase someone wants one! Will have a look at the Leupold, had one on an old Rem700 243 and it never let me down and I didn’t realise they were so reasonably priced.
Just another thought I have a Tikka 22-250 synthetic and in my opinion it is the job, I have a T8 sound mod and a Zeiss Scope on it with a Harris bpod, I would find it hard to believe there is a better foxing combo, that and my boarder terrier, I take a lot of care over it and am starting to worry about my cleaning techniques, I use a rifle bore cleaner and some times some solvent and oil, the thing is that the messages written in the cleaning section seem to go into great depths of cleaning practise , is there any harm in the old bore snake and oil and I thought that copper lining on the thread gave the round lubrication and it was self cleaning! I certainly know of many a stalker who has never touched the inside of a barrel and they would compete with any marksmen.

Gilding metal or "copper" jackets reduce lead fouling from high vel. They do however foul the bbl. If you are only using a bore snake & oil, you aren't realy cleaning it much. A good bore solvent for copper & an appropriate size jag & patches will go along way to keeping your rifle shooting top notch. I clean my high vel. stuff every 40-60 rds.

Somthing to consider in europe, is that you can shoot game at night over there. So a really great scope to consider is the Nikkon monarch gold, I think the low power one is a 1.5X6 It has a big objectice and a 30mm tube so it will transfer alot of light. It runs about 500.00 but a cheaper alternative might be a low end burris signiture select. 1 inch tube (will fit the rings that come with your CZ), and still has a big objective, In the us where you can only shoot in the day,(as far as I know) I might go with a 1x4 Leupold at about 300.00 or a 1.5x5 or 1.75X6 at 400.00...tj3006

Foxshot.
I´m with ozhunter on this one.
The classic scope for the 9,3 in Europe is the 1,5-6x42. It gives you the best of both worlds.
Works great on close range ( pigs / boars ) and you still have enough magnification to take those long range shots. 42 mm is not the optimal for dusk and dawn, but it works.
Take a look at the Meopta, good scope for a reasonable price. Go for the German #4 reticle.
And so is the Hungary made S&B.

I use a Leupold VXIII 3,5-10x50 with heavy duplex on my 35 Whelen and it is ok for both roe, red and moose.
3,5 is a bit to much in close quarters though.

For the price, you can't beat the VX I 2-7. Give Jon a call at the Optic Zone. Great outfit to do business with. Actually spoke with Jon briefly last week. He's a genuinely nice guy. Lou
