I'm headed to a gun auction on Saturday and they have one of the subject rifles listed for sale. From what I've been able to find on the net it seems that these are a decent quality rifle made in Germany, but some were also imported to the US as barreled actions and then stocked by the importer.

Does anyone know any more about these rifles either good or bad? Just trying to find out as much as I can prior to the auction. Finally, what would be a fair price for such a rifle in good condition?

Had one in 30/06, shot good, very smooth recessed 3 lug bolt. Interesting shroud mounted safety. Skip line checkering.

Sorry I sold it. was a pretty rifle. I don't remember the marking on it. I think I may still have 2 scope mounts for it.

pm me your e.mail. I'll send a few pictures.

Labman, call Phil at KDF in Seguin, TX, if he's not out for the Houston Safari Club show. Phil was the importer for Mauser way back, then Voere and Kleingunther. Mine was a 411 KDF on a Mauser 99 action, stocked here in the US and sold as a KDF Titan II. Nice rifles.

Just got back from the auction. I didn't get the Voere. This was an auction comprised of over 300 guns from one estate. Many of the guns were NIB and unfired, but sadly not well maintained. There were many new guns with significant amounts of rust. I saw a nice Marlin 336 with it's muzzle covered in rust and an unfired NIB ruger #1 in 7mm Mag with a red pad that had small spots of rust the entire length of its barrel. There was so much dirt/dust in the barrel that I couldn't tell if it was just dirt or there was some rust in there as well. It sold for $700.

The Voere had issues. No visible rust, but obviously pretty dirty and the recoil pad was ruined. Of more concern was the bolt. It was very difficult to lift, but once cocked it seemed OK. I'm pretty sure it was just gummed up or possibly rusted inside, but I couldn't tell for sure and didn't want to take the chance. The Voere sold for $400.

Thanks to everyone for all the tips. Generally speaking the prices were high and I came home empty handed.

You made the right call - Voere Shikars failed on the US market because of a design that led them to have a very very heavy bolt lift. They are dogs. Redesigned to remove this fault and to refine some others they became the very outwardly similar Voere/Kleingunther K-14 which are very very nice rifles indeed and are often still called 'Shikars' by those unaware of the difference.

A freind has one in 30-06 I ordered for him when I was a dealer in the 1970's. It was very accurate and never gave any problems.
