Anyone have one usingeither the .288 or .284 bullet?

I know, it isn't and STW, but it's just different.

From what I can gather (which isn't much), the 280 Dubiel Magnum was a cartridge designed by John Dubiel and Charles Askins . They necked down the 300H&H magnum with barrel grooves cut to .2885".

The original bullet was the .288 same as the 280 Ross.

You are right, mostly anyway. I don't know about the Askins part. I think Dubiel may have been working at G&H at the time.

I have a .276 Dubiel, it's .284 dia. different case, less capacity,.275 H&H brass was used for it

I have a .280 Dubiel but unfortunately haven't fired it although I do have dies and a lot of bullets for it. Something I need to get around to doing.

Did you get around to shooting your .280 Dubiel?

Mine with a new barrel came back last week, bored for .284 in place of .288
