My 2002 copy of the lyman book has .260 info in it. FWIW, I don't think the 24" barrel will give you any help. .243, 7-08, and even .308 brass can be readily made into .260 brass if you can't find the real stuff. Aim for the exit hole

I have never found the 22" barrel on mine to be an issue. Mine is a factory Remington 700. It shoots MOA at 300 yards. Try Gunbroker. There is a guy right now that has Remington brass for $30 for 50 plus shipping. Not bad. I also look frequently at Shooters Pro Shop. I buy the Nosler Blems as well. They are first quality with perhaps a little tarnish. All of the newer books have 260 loads, or google Nosler reloading and go to their Version 8 data for free. Yes, the bullets are .264 diameter. If you already found Hornady brass, then use that.

If you don't have, or want, paper reloading manuals, there is always Hodgdon's on-line reloading center. www.hodgdonreloading.com The 5 bullets that I shoot most frequently in my 260s are the 100 grain BT and Partition, the 120 grain BT, the 129 grain Hornady, and the 130 grain AB. Most of my 260s are Remingtons with 1-9" ROT barrels, so any bullets longer than the 130 grain AB need to be pushed hard to get maximum potential accuracy out of a 1-9" ROT barrel.

With a 24" barrel you would only be 2"s closer to your target, so no I am back from a long Hiatus... or whatever. Take care. smallfry

The 260 Remington si one of my favorite 264 caliber cartridges - I like the 6.5x55 Swede too. We have built many rifles for it, but all with 26 inch barrels. A friend lives in Africa, and shoots everything with it, including big animals that supposed to laugh at small calibers. He uses our own Walterhog bullets.

I built mine with a 24" tube, as I do most of my rifles. I guess it is a matter of preference. But if you want to be able to eek out of it all you can with large for caliber bullets then it gives a slight edge over the shorter bbls. Depends on what you want to do with it really. A slightly lighter 260 makes a fine Mtn rifle. AK-47 The only Communist Idea that Liberals don't like.
