| They are available. I looked at both the blued and stainless versions yesterday at Sportsman's Warehouse. I didnt ask what calibers where available but I held in my hands a 30-06 and a 300 Win Mag. Not sure of the price for the blued version but the stainless was $499. I would think the blued version is about $80 less. They seem like a good buy and changed my mind towards me wanting to get my son a new Kimber. This is available for half price.

| I just checked with my wholesaler, I see the blued version in 300 ultra and 300 win, the stainless I only see in 300 win mag. In my shop I will be selling the blued version for around $400 and the stainless for about $480. I have some left over ADL's that I am selling for $330. |

| The stainless steel version. But I can't answer the question on the prices from the previous poster if that is what you are asking. Cheers

| PC, Remington is replacing the ADL with the SPS. Special Plastic S%$t... Only kidding, its Special Purpose Synthetic I think. Standard chambering barrels have gone to 24", with magnums in at 26". The 300Ultra has caught my eye as has the plain jane 30/06 for when I'm feeling jaded by recoil, and want cheap components. Can't decide?! They've also gotten rid of the blind magazine and replaced it with a floorplate like the BDL. And... the J-lock is gone, or better be!!! I think the SPS is why so many package deals have appeared on the ADL over here lately. If it comes in at under $1000 for a synthetic/blued then I'll be interested as it'll be fun playing with an Ultra for 1500 or so rounds Cheers... Con |

| We just bought my son a 30-06 SPS. I just took the rifle apart and weighed the stock on a certified scale. The new sys stock weighed 1 pound 13 ounces including the sling studs and recoil pad. Its actually a nice stock. It isnt nosiy or raspy sounding like a lot on the market.

| Snowwolfe, More information...please!! What's total weight, how does it shoot, what's the trigger like from the factory and please tell me that J-lock is definately gone? I'm tottering between a 30/06, 300WinMag or 300 Ultra, with the 300WinMag strengthening daily! Cheers... Con |

| I am guessing the factory weight claim of 7 1/4 is correct. We may not be able to shoot it for awhile simply because we are lacking to much free time. I like the stock very much. It has a very nice recoil pad and built in checkering. It actually surprised me. It had a slight up pressure to the barrel at the fore end but it will be easy to remove if I decide it doesnt shoot well and want to free float the barrel. The trigger is so so. But a Remington is so easy to adjust that doesnt make much of a difference to me. The only thing I would change on this rifle is to shorten the barrel from 24 to 22. I just don't see the need for a 24 inch tube on a 30-06. I was impressed by the smoothness of the bolt travel. I have owned about 30 Rem 700's in my life and I do believe computers allow them to machine more precise parts. I plan on putting a 2.5 x 8 Leupold on this for my son and lapping in the lugs and working on a starting load with 168 gr Barnes triple shock bullets. Later on I may change to a McMillian stock as they have one out now that weighs in at 22 ounces. 8 ounces saved on the stock and another 2 by shortening the barrel would make a nice package for his first moose or grizzly hunt.

| I saw and handled a 300 win mag today. I thought when I picked it up that it must be Rem's answer to the tikka t-3. It felt really lightweight and handled really nice. I figured it would be in the $650 range after cycling the bolt. (Super smooth). Then I looked at the tag and it was priced at $429. Wow--but I think they are making the barrels too long. I don't think I want a 26" barrel hanging on my shoulder. I think the tikka idea of a 23" barrel on non mags and a 25" is kind of getting it in the middle and getting it right. Overall I was very impressed with this gun. |

| Sportsman Warehouse is selling the stainless versions for $499. Remarkable price considering you are getting bascially a stainless steel BDL with a syn stock.

| Guys, Personally it's the longer barrels that caught my interest! Sounds like Remington is putting together a nice rifle, the light weight may explain no 338WM. Time to start saving the pennies... Cheers... Con |

| The Remington SPS looks a lot like my Model 70 Super Shadow. Matte finish, with functional synthetic stock and decent recoil pad for a great price. I wonder why they decided not to offer it in .260 remington? If they had, I probably would have bought one, since I like the idea of a .260 Remington with 24" barrel, synthetic stock and reasonable price. Guess I could buy one in .243 Win. It shouldn't take too long to shoot the barrel out...
Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.

| I may buy one of these for my wife in .308. First thing to go is the stock as she is to tall for the youth model but not tall enough for the regular length of pull. Will go to a McMillan to save weight. Question, what do you think is a good price to sell the factory stock for?

| I looked at the SPS just a couple days ago. Was very impressed for what you get at that price. I liked it a lot, and would have bought one immediately if they were available in 25-06. I ended up with a Ruger M77 for various reasons, but would have taken the SPS easily. Too bad there are no leftys available in that configuration yet. I know one guy in particular who would want one. As an aside, the SPS is offered in youth models in .243, .308, .270 and 30-06 - so there are factory SPS options for those small in stature. The J-lock is completely gone.

| Remington is doing away with quite a few left handed models. You can no longer buy any lefthanded stainless rifle from them unless you order it out of there custom shop. But if your friend is interested I have several lefties for sale.

| What is the main difference between the SPS and BDL? |

| SPS has a syn stock. Remington no longer makes the BDL. Its been changed to the CDL. Check out Remingtons web site.

| Remington no longer makes the BDL synthetic, the BDL is still in the line (page 3 in their 2005 catalog).
