I've had them in 30-06 and in .280, never jammed, but could be hard to find an accurate load.

For some reason, this is the first time in about a week that I could get in to reply to this post. I have a Rem 742 (which preceeded the 7400 by twenty years or more. I also reloaded for the 742's belonging to others. It is mentioned in some of the loading manuals, I know, but don't remember which ones. Namely; don't use such slow burning powder in these rifles as you will do damage over time. I ended up with IMR-4064, got good accuracy and no problems. Prior to that I ended up sending the rifle back to Remington twice and the second time I had a new receiver to fix the problems. I believe, while your new load is functioning, that it is too slow a powder for this action design.

On a trip to Canada two hunters both had the magazines fall out of their Remington autoloaders into the snow. One of the incidents resulted in a lost animal.

Some years ago I had one of these in 30/06. With factory loads or factory equivalent reloads it jammed occasionally, and grouped around 2.5 moa. When loaded down to .308 levels, it functioned 100% and would put most loads in 1.5 moa. I don't recall the powder I used, but would guess it was IMR 4895.

Had one. 4350 is may all time favourite in the 06. BUT NOT IN THE 7400! Use 4064, 2520, 4895, you get the idea. Look up ( Hornady ) loads for semi autos. Do as I eventually did: sell that junk! Sorry, but thats my opinion, and I did everything to get it right: tried all mags, loaded myself, fiddled with the forearm screw... By a Mauser 98, Win 70, train to work the bolt swiftly and correct ... My 0.02 Hermann
