If I was to take a 300 win mag and have it punched out to 300 wby, can the free bore be added or would I be stuck with a 300 wby with no freebore? Thinking about a great deal on a long barrel 300 win figuring it would make a great weatherby....but not if I'm not going to see normal weatherby gains due to no freebore. I'm already set up to load for the wby and my current rifle has a short tube, this is why I'm curious

All it takes is 308 throat reamer and you can add as much freebore as you want. I've seen 300Wby reamer cut both ways.

As usual just my $.02

Does your .300 Winchester have a full length (3.65") magazine, or does it have the .30-06-length (3.35") magazine of some .300 Winchesters? If the latter, don't bother to rechamber as a .300 Wby wouldn't fit your magazine.

I'm playing legos with rifles. Its a Win 70 with a blocked box, BUT, I have another m70 that's in 300wby now with a 24" barrel I'm rebarreling to 338 win mag. So I take the box from the wby, put it in the new 300 win mag that's being rechambered, and take that blocked box and put it in the soon to be 338
