I have a 646(?) with a turned down bolt. It is an FN action made before WWII. The bolt was not turned down enough to mount a scope and had to be modified more. Great off hand rifle.

Here are before and after shots of my 9.3x62 Husky's bolt work.

Before bolt work.

After bolt work.

There was no way I could find scope mounts high enuff for the bolt handle to clear a scope - I had to change the bolt.
