I hung up my .338 and bought a 375 H&H from Ak..Stick on AR, and man does this old Whitworth shoot, like a varmint gun, one hole is close to average... I loaded up 285 Speers and 250 Sierras, the 285s beat the Sierras to my surprise by about 3/4 of an inch, but both shot great.. I retired my old .375 some years ago and went to the 338 Win. a caliber I dearly love, but?? My questions is who shoots what bullets in this modern day of fine bullets that we never had when I was hunting with the old 375 some years back...I liked the WW Power Points in factory stuff and the Silvertip had good periods then they would change it to bad then back to good, so it was often a crap shoot... I know the 250 Barnes TTSXP looks good, but Ive always been leery of monolithics, when they work they are down right awesome, when they fail they fail miserably, but todays Barnes may be a different story? Most of my friends tout them highly.. Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com

For bigger, more solid game I only shoot Barnes TSX 300 and 270 gn. My .375 H&H shoots both very well with RL15. It doesn't like the lighter weight Barnes. It does well with the Woodleigh PP 235 gn but I haven't used this bullet on game although I'm sure it works fine. Hunting.... it's not everything, it's the only thing.

My .375 is a one holer when I do my part with 300 grain TSX bullets. I’ve killed game out to 400 yards with it, and never saw a reason to change. It shot factory 300 grain TBBC’s and A Frames within 1” as well, but didn’t care for the federal high energy load (1.5”) I’ve decided that since the TSX does what I need from a .375, no need to change anything.

Congratulations on the Whitworth. I like the Barnes 270 grain TSX. I have not load this specifically for my H&H, but do for my 375 Rugers. The reason is that I have been using the Ruger version more. I have the factory loaded Vortex 300 grain TSX for the H&H. I recently had some modifications done on a M70 stainless 375 H&H and plan to load the 270 TSX's for it. I also have some Barnes 270 grain LRX bullets to load for the Ruger and H&H. If this bullet shoots well in my rifles, it may become my bullet of choice. Until that time, I prefer the 270 TSX for my hunting in Alaska. The 270 TSX groups extremely well in the 3 rifles that I have loaded it in. Another factory load that I am going to try in the H&H is the Hornady 250 grain GMX. I tried these in a 375 Ruger. They did not group as well as the Barnes 270 TSX.

Ray, For deer I've used both the 235 Speer and TSX. Both were very accurate but you can drive them pretty fast and cause meat damage with an errant shot. I tried the 250TTSX because of the better BC but for some reason they would not group better than about 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches in my rifle that shoots bug holes with everything else. No monos to date, I get by well with 300gr partitions at 2680, and BBW #13 solids at 2700 fps, both leave via RL-17 powder, they're extremely accurate in an old 1952 year model Winchester 70.

Ray, I'm using the 270 TSX for everything in the 375 H&H at 2725 FPS and 375 WBY AT 2900 FPS. Have had many clients kill buffalo, brown bear and tons of lesser game with that load with complete satisfaction. Recently two clients killed brown bear with that bullet. One literally died in his tracks and the other made it about 10 yards. Mark MARK H. I'm taking a new to me Kimber Caprivi 375 H&H on a plains game only hunt next May. Only plan to hunt for larger animals wildebeest up to eland. What's everyone's opinion on the Nosler Accubond 260gr for the hunt? Seems like a perfect plains game bullet to me.

I shot abour 40 head of PG with the Accubond and the partition, was hard to impossible to tell the difference, they both perform with excellence. big exit holes and lot of internal damage and quick kills on the big stuff..I would use either on Buffalo in a pinch, but the 300 would be better...I also like the Speer 285 gr. Grand Slam on PG and Buffalo, Lion, Hippo..It really penetrates and gets a nice mushroom, and never comes apart..BTW Graffs has that bullet on sale for $17.00 a box, that's a steal..I have a feeling Speer is making some changes and a lot of their better bullets are doomed, as production costs are so high on the good bullets.. I was extremely happy with performance of the 250gr TTSX last month on moose (~2750fps over RL15). Granted, that's a sample size of one.... I'll be bringing the same rifle to South Carolina whitetail hunting next week. It will get second crack after the 308 (hopefully) gets the first.

I would be satisfied with a Woodleigh, never had one fail on PG or DG and elk.. I used them off and on for years...As good a bullet as their is.. I also had great luck with the Speer 285 Grand Slams,in my old .375 and 250s GS in my .338s and other calibers, perfect bullet, btw Speer advised me its been discontued, but Graffs has them on sale for $17.99 while they last, I.ve bought a dozen boxes as of today.. I also bought a 100 270 TTSX P BTs and some 250 gr. Sierras..Ive not been a friend to the monolithics because of failures early on, but that seems to have been fixed so will give them another try.. I think you will be happy with Barnes. I started using them before they were required in CA and found the TSX and TTSX to be as accurate as any bullet I have tried and foul no more than other bullets. They are different though. They don't expand as much as the typical lead core bullet (less frontal area) but retain virtually 100% of their weight which means they penetrate and exit wonderfully but impart less energy to the animal. That means on a rib shot you will see less reaction to the hit (thus the "pencil on through" myth) but they still do the damage inside. I have found for DRT that CNS or bone breakage is what is required. Have gun- Will travel The value of a trophy is computed directly in terms of personal investment in its acquisition. Used 300gr Nosler Accubond BTSP in my 375 H&H mag on Bull Moose. About 2300 fps impact speed. Unexpected fragmentation for a bonded core bullet. I'm done using these on game. Going to try TSX which perform well in my 416's and 458's. Now have 270gr TSX and 300gr CEB MTH loaded up. About the same 100 yard POI. Good energy retention with the CEB 0.75 bc (270gr TSX 0.326 bc).

I use only 150g Partitions in my 270 at 3000 fps, A-Frames in our 375 Weatherby and 416 Rem, and TSX's in my 500 Jeffery. Zero issues. I'll give up a little BC for great expansion/weight retention. Im not sure one bullet is any better than another bullet in todays techknowledgly, they all seem to work, Its been years since Ive had to deal with real bullet failure..Yesteryear was a different ball game, failures were common.. Gotta hand it to todays bullet boys, they got it all figured out it seems to me. I do see some bullets today that the inventors have gone over the top and are new to the game, but I won't be using that stuff until the masses of newbies try them for me!! I have found the 270 gr. TSX to be very accurate. Frankly I don't think there is really such a thing a "bullet failure" in a .375 unless you are shooting at something close range that has the ability to redecorate you. Then I think a 155 mm HE round is probably a better choice.

Another vote for the 270 TSX. I'm loading this with RE15 and doing about 2750. Results are nothing but positive from warthog to eland. This load shoots very accurately for me from a M70 Safari Express so I haven't needed to look any further. I have fired over 800 rounds of this in the past 7 years and have no intentions of ever changing.

We used the similar 270gr Failsafe, from '96 to 2002, on PG with perfection. I later shot many 270 TSX, shot like a BR rifle! I killed one mule deer with the older 235X and it wasn't bad on the meat. A dear, now deceased friend of mine used the 300TSX for everything from leopard to elephant in Zimbabwe. It was wonderful! I had loads made up with 300 Nosler PT in a Mod 700 Classic ( my last 375, I gave to an African friend) and it shot great too. I have read many good reviews from a couple hunters ( one a PH) of the 250 TSX in the 375H&H. The first 260 PT came apart on a friend in South Africa on a big Eland and a Blue Wildebeast, but worked swell on Kudu. I'm sure its a good bullet, but 270 has been my only real satisfying experience. I've owned 2 Whitworth Express 375s...wonderful rifles!

JIm, I shot a lot of PG on one RSI safari with PHilip Price using the 375 with 260 Noslers and it worked just fine even on Eland..I also used the 338 with 210 Noslers on that safari and they worked as well.. Today Id opt for the 225 Nosler partition or Accubond in the .338 Win as Ive shot half a dozen elk with it at 2913 FPS with RL-19 and RL-17, and the 285 gr. Speer Grand Slam in the .375 always worked fantastic back in the day, and I am giving the 270 TSX a try these days in my new .375 Whitworth I bought off AR classifieds..Its a dandy. Well I have been shooting the .375 for 40 years and tried a lot of different bullets along the way. My go to bullets are the 270 grain Barnes TSX. the 285 Speer Grand Slam and the 275 grain CEB Safari Raptor. ______________________________________________ The power of accurate observation is frequently called cynicism by those who are bereft of that gift.

I have killed an l elk, large euro boar, whitetail, and shot the heads off 2 turkey with a plain Jane Hornady 270 grain Interlock. All massive exits, all taking out heavy bone. I am also not the biggest Hornady fan. I do kike that bullet for elk type game.

Hello Ray, Have you tried the 200grn GS customs? they get around 3200 fps. I load my 375H&H to 3175fps and it gives sterling performance from the muzzle to 400yds. You will find the load light and very pleasant to shoot with on extended shooting sessions See this page. http://www.gsgroup.co.za/rick2.html

I've shot TSX pretty much exclusively since the 00's and loaded 300 gr for my .375 H&H (velocity escaped me) into 1/2". That being said my PH and I weren't happy in Zim with the lack of expansion, so much so I shot my lion with my .300 Win instead (180 gr TSX @ 3060 fps), to ensure expansion. Came home and had the rifle pillar bedded by Hill Country Rifles who supplied 1/2" test target using Federal 300 gr A frames. I worked up a load with A frames that shoots into one hole. Frankly I love the 375 H&H, much easier on the shoulder than the 338s IMO. There are two types of people in the world: those that get things done and those who make excuses. There are no others.

Most of that outstanding success is because you are one of the best game shots Ive ever known and if you were shooting marbles instead of bullets in your 375, the results would have been the same... JOhnly, Ive never seen a blue tipped Nosler!! I remember a olive drap point, think it was a 338 and an orange Accubond in 30 caliber early on.. The bullet in the picture certainly isn't a failed bullet, shows about perfect expansion.. Ive shot many deer elk and PG with Noslers Accubonds and all performed exactly like a Nosler Partition...Mostly in the 250-3000, 338, .308 and 30-06 Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com

In North America I have shot Nosler partitions with out issue for over 40 years. About 5 years ago Nosler mover the partition forward in the 375 caliber and above so it retained closer to 80% of its weight after impact. The historically average was closer to 60% but even then they were spectacular killers. I have tried TSX's, Accubonds and Partitions in my 375's and they all shot great. Have historically used RL 15 in the H&H and H4350 in the Weatherby. Most recently have ben using Ramshot Big Game with the 375 H&H and can squeeze out a bit more velocity and it is very easy to regulate in a powder thrower (spherical powder). You can get 2850 FPS with a 270 TSX in an H&H which adds a flatter shooting option to the great penetration as well.

Nice to hear that gents in their 80's can happily go back up in recoil, too. Enjoy your new rifle. Mono's are great, try some. 250 TTSX, 270gnLRX, 200gnGSC, now HammerHunters, there are many. You shouldn't have any problem with rifling twist in a .375". Only the really long-range super-heavy boutique bullets need faster than 1 in 12". +-+-+-+-+-+-+ "A well-rounded hunting battery might include: 500 AccRel Nyati, 416 Rigby or 416 Ruger, 375Ruger or 338WM, 308 or 270, 243, 223" -- Conserving creation, hunting the harvest.

The heaviest bullet Ive used on game is the Woodleigh 350 grs...I field tested them for Geoff some years ago...Shot great in the guns I had, He sent me RN, PPs, best I recall solids..He also did about the same in the 40 cal. with a 450 gr. bullets, same in .404... I shot a number of buffalo and sent the photos and results to Geoff...If I were to go to Africa today Id use thoses 350s in my .375 that got me 2400 fps plus some. The hardest bullet, and as dependable as they come was and is the 285 gr. Speer Grand Slams, and it penetrates fantastic, like an expanding solid so to speak...They recently discontinued it but I bought a dozen boxes from Midway or graffs?? so that should last as long as I will anyway, and at $17.99 per box of 50, that's cheap for premium 375 bullets. I also got some 250 gr. Sierras, 300 gr. Woodligh partitions, 270 gr. TTSXs, and some 250 gr. something or others, I do need some Remington brass to match the 40 cases I have..
