I am currently looking at a G2. I wanted to buy the newer g2 version however I cant seem to find anyone that makes the barrels I want. I am looking for 7mm rem mag and 375 H&H. What is going on the rifle has higher chamber pressures than the encore I am not asking for something crazy here just two very popular chambers. Instead they offer 375 JDJ what the heck is that. Does anyone know a barrel maker that will do those chambers. I understand will use older contender barrels but I could not find the calibers either.

Thank You

SwiftShot,

No one will chamber a 7mm Mag or a 375 H&H for a Contender. To get these chamberings you will need to get an Encore. The Encore is much beefier than the Contender and will handle the higher chamber pressures generated by the cartridges that you are interested in. The Contender G-@ is simply a redesign of the old Contender. It is still a smaller frame than the Encore and works great for a variety of less intense cartridges flike the 7-30 Waters, 30-30 Win, 44 Rem mag, etc.

To answer your question about the 375 JDJ, it is a proprietary cartridge of SSK industries. You can find out more about it at www.sskindustries.com

By the way, we have a very good single shot rifle forum on this site with some very knowledgeable Contender shooters.

Hope this helps,

X
