For the .350Rem I stick with the 225 Nosler P. or the 250 Hornady RN or Speer.

I've been considering getting a Rem 673 in .350 Remington. In general, how do you guys like the .350 Remington? Is there any game in North America too big to take with this round?

Also, I'm not a reloader, so the limited ammo selection is a factor. Have you heard about any manufacturers planning to offer more factory loads in the future?

RJM, Im using both those bullets in my .358 win... Im just working up loads for my Sako and the Nosler now. Try filing the soft lead tip off of the Nosler and then seat the bullet out as far as practicle for the magazine. That may give you the neck tention you desire. BT53

I've shot two deer and one hog using the 350 RM and the Speer 220 FP at 2700 FPS. The ranges were between 30 and 60 yards. The bullets on both deer exited. The bullet on the hog entered the back portion of the rib cage and was found under the skin in the front part of the shoulder. The recovered bullet mushroomed perfectly and weighed 141 grains.

Although I like Whelen's, my "go to" bolt gun is the .350RM.
I like the short action and its accuracy with 225 grainers. Besides, it's just a short action 35Whelen.

I doub't that there is an American game animal that the .350 couldn't handle effectively with the right bullet. Barne's has recently come out with a 225gr TX which should be interesting.

Ammo selection is a problem if you don't handload. Maybe you can talk a handloader buddy into doing it--buy the dies, etc.

I doubt you would be disappointed in a .350RM.

My cousin has a 350RM and he loads with 225 gra. A-frames. There's nothing on this continent you couldn't go after with that setup. I had heard Remington was going to load their premium line (Safari?) with 225 A-frames but couldn't say for sure if they have started.

Does anyone else make a rifle chambered for the .350 Remington Magnum round? The Rem 673 is ok, but that ventilated rail and "can opener" front sight look a little odd.

Remington made it in their M700 Classic offering several years ago. Every once in a while one shows up for sale in the classifieds here or on the 24HrCampfire board. Check GunsAmerica.Com.

They tend to go for $500-600 used depending on condition. I have two of them and they are excellent shooters.

Ruger chambered it too, many years ago, in their M77. I see fewer of them on the market, though, and generally a bit more $$.

Also, you might want to try a WTB ad here and at the campfire. Never know what somebody has squirreled away in a safe.

Hey Bob, Back when the 6.5RemMag was released, it had the exact same problem with some 0.264" Bullets.

I've used the 220gr Hot-Cor Speer on a number of Deer from a 350RemMag, but have not reached the number (24-25) which I consider to be enough kills for a bullet to be recommended by me.

Since you have experienced a problem with it, and posted about it, you obviously now have "confidence" problems with it. Easy to understand and reasonable. If you continue to use that bullet, it will always be a point of contention in the back of your mind until you make enough kills to regain that lost confidence.

So, I'd recommend that if you do want to use it, do so in the Off-Season against some Hogs. They are plenty tough enough to restore confidence or remove it entirely.

---

However, let me also recommend a very "tough" bullet that I saw make 66-straight 1-shot kills on Deer, Hogs and Black Bears at a Hunt Camp by mixed hunters using 358Win M99s. It is the 200gr Hornady SP. You can Seat it to the cannelure, apply a snug Roll Crimp with your existing Die and have an absolutely great bullet.

I believe I'm on my 2nd box of them with all 1-shot kills from my 350RemMag on Hogs, Black Bears, but mostly Deer. At the 350RemMag velocities, they would be similar to your 35Wehlen at a SAFE MAX Load. They are tough enough that I will "strongly recommend" you go through a shoulder on the way in when using them. Going through the Lungs will kill, but they just don't open as well there.

Best of luck to you.

BOB,
Been doing a little research on your problem. For deer sized game the 200 grain Hornady is a good bullet. It worked well in my 350. [A Remington Custom Shop Model 7] After my Africa trip where I used 500 grain Swift A-Frames in my 450 No2 on Buff, I recommend you try the 225 Swift A Frame in your 350. It has a crimping grove.
To some of the other posters on this forum: I had a 350 Rem for a while. Based on my use of it, and a 375 H&H, and a 9,3x74R I would not hesitate to use a 350 Rem Mag [with a premium bullet] on ANY game in North America to include Brown Bear on Kodiak Island.
Medium bore rifles are severely under estimated and thus under used by American hunters. The 338/06, 358 Win, 350 Mag, 35 Whelen, 9,3x62, and my favorite [because I like double rifles best ] the 9,3x74R, are the best rifles on the planet for the serious hunter. They are not too powerful on deer sized game, and kill "BIG" big game very well. They hit like the HAMMER of THOR, with very little recoil. The same can be said for the 338 Win Mag the 340 WBY and the 375 H&H, but they do have more recoil.

Bob give the Swift bullets a try. I have talked in person to the owner of the company and his son, they are good people. Also, the North Fork people are fine folks too. Their bullets are top notch.

Do you guys have any load data for the .350 RM? Preferably with European powders like Kemira etc.
It´s hard to get any load data over here.

Thanks,
hajoka

What N E 450 No2 said. The Swift bullets are wonderful, and the 350 Rem Mag is a GREAT cartridge. It's more the sufficient for any North American game. Why the 35's haven't caught on in this country is beyond me. I have a Remington 673 in 350 Rem Mag, that I just love. Kills big Russian boars like nothing else. Good shooting.

61 grains of IMR4895 behind a Remington 200 gr. CoreLokt is an absolute bomb on whitetails....very accurate in both my 700 Classic as well as a 660 I have....

I shoot a 673 Remington. I only see dog size deer when I hunt. The Speer 180 grainer (made for the 35 Remington) hits them like a Chrysler. Won't do much for your tracking skills. Looks like you shot it with a wood router. Just be ready for burger.
