I'm looking around for a Brno ZG-47 chambered in 8x64S. Does anyone know where I might find one?
Thanks.

Try Tradex in Ontario and Reliable Gun in Vancouver. I think the latter had one in an estate from a friend of mine, but, it may well be gone.

I turned down his offer to sell it to me a couple years ago as I had/have a few ZGs and 21/22s and am now selling my guns due to age and health. I do not have any now I wish to sell, but, they are out there.

I have two polished receiver 9.3x62s and may part with one later this year, sales ONLY in Canada. HTH.

8x64 is obscure also here in Czech Republic, where ZG-47 were made.

I have two hunting friends, they both sold their ZG-47 in 8X64. Also ZG-47 will not lock the bolt, so many times it get opened when carrying in the bushes.

When talking aboit 8 mm calibers, a lot of people shoots 8x57IS here, some also 8x68S, but I don't know anyone with 8x64.

There are at least two or three different versions of ZG-47, maybe some versions lock the bolt . . .

I don`t know of any ZG-47 that will not lock the bolt, when on SAFE.

All 6 I have owned worked in the same manner..

The BRNO 21/22 though.. did not.

Nortman:

Yes, you are right. Brno 21 will not, ZG will. My mistake.

One friend have 8x57 in Brno 21, it has the issue with opening. Two different friends sold their ZG-47 because of 8x64S is obscure and ammo selection is very limited.

My ZG47 started life as a 7X64 Brenneke. I had it rebored and rechambered to 8X64 and have been quite happy with it since.

Thank you! I am having a heck of time trying to register on the Canadian Gun Nutz site and so far am unsuccessful. I hope I'm not too late when I finally get onto the site.

Longwalker,

After plowing through the "not user friendly" navigation to get onto the Canadian Gun Nutz site, I had to do "extra" registration to see any of the buy/sell part of the forums - and that will take another 3 - 5 days to get an approval back for my access request. Amazing. Hope the rifle is still there when (if) I get final approval. I still haven't been able to see it. Appreciate the lead - hope it works out!

It is a little difficult and time consuming to register for the buy/sell section of Canadian Gun Nuts. But once accepted, there are very few scam artists to deal with. I have done over 100 transactions with no bad deals and only a couple of iffy ones. Please be patient, and Good Luck!

Thanks, Longwalker. I hope I crossed all the "T"s correctly to request access to the buy/sell section. Still haven't received authorization or a response but am waiting patiently.

Here is the description of the one currently listed for sale on
Gun Nuts:

Hate to do this but I'm putting my gorgeous ZG-47 up for sale. 1961 production with a fantastic tiger stripe stock. Beautiful bluing with some edge wear on the floor plate/trigger guard, bolt knob, and a few other places. The bore is not 100% but I have put a total of 20 rounds through this rifle since owning it and it's accurate. The stock has beautiful grain to it but lots of small dents and scratches with some of the finish flaking off in places. Mostly on the buttstock. It's been hunted with at some point in it's life.

I'm hoping some collector will buy this and give it a good home. These are some of the finest Mauser actions ever made and fantastic rifles.

Will come with 5 full boxes of 8x64 plus the 20 rounds of empty brass and shipped in hard case. The scope is a very nice condition Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 mounted in Leupold rings.

1750 shipping included for the entire package to most places. Remote areas may be more. Please give me your location so I can confirm shipping costs.

I take emt, MO, or cheque. I could do a payment plan as well if needed.

I hope the rifle is still there to look at on the Canadian Gun Nutz site. They confirm that they received my request on 15 Jan and the site says 5 - 10 day turn around to receive access permission. Here it is 10 business days later and I've heard nothing. Still no access.
