I asked this question in a thread with a different main thrust and it got missed: what is the deal with the Model 70 .300 WM OAL limitation? The Nosler manual says they built the protected point partition in 180gr to compensate for the SAAMI OAL which is an issue in some rifles chambered in .300WM and makes the 180gr Partition too long. Is this an issue in the Model 70? Is it chamber size or magazine length that is the restricting factor? Thanks, Steve

My push feed mod. 70 magazine box measures 3.445" as best as I can measure w/o taking it out of the stock. Might be +/- a few thous. as I can't be sure if caliper is exactly straight due to floorplate/triggerguard being in the way. Loading manual lists 3.340 COAL. I have no problems using 200 gr. Nos. Partitions in it if that helps any. Regards, hm

SK, HM is right. The mag box on the M70 measures right around 3.4" give or take a couple thou. But some mag boxes aren't so generous. I think the magnum BAR magazines are little short but I can't remember.

Thanks, Sounds like I'll be okay with standard 180 gr NP's if I go with the .300WM in a model 70. Steve
