richjShot the Stevens 30/30
The scope will have to move back when I get the mount moded. I'm going to recheck the action screws and barrel band.
Oh and the guy that owns the range had the sand sifted. $100,00 in reclaimed lead went to 30 new benches
50 yds. 150 Remmy's.

HipshootHey Rich,
Can't believe you drive all the way out to the Calverton range.
Try 38 gr. H335 with the 125 gr. Sierra spitzer-----shoots great in my Savage M340! 2625 fps.

AtkinsonSo which Stevens is that? The Savage/Stevens break open single shot or the old bolt action clip fed job..??

jeffeossoif it's the clip fed one, i strongly suggest no one than a single 3 shot group per hour - it WILL wander around the target when it heats up

Lamarkeep the front band tight.

LamarI have both a savage 340 and the stevens 325.
I trust the savage a little more at the moment.
but once I get back around to the Stevens it should hold 2" groups at 100 yds with the open sights same as the savage does now.
sierra 150gr soft points work very nice, they also make a 130 that gets respectable speeds without stressing the rifle.
both are outstanding on deer.

snowmanI have a Savage in 22 hornet. It is accurate if you keep things tight. It will do 3/4 in groups @ 100 yds. Biggest problem is getting those fat old fingers to hold and load those tiny little cases.
