Hello all, I am having a 338RUM built and my smith wants a dummy round to cut the chamber. Problem is I have never had a 338 RUM or loaded for it so I have no idea what OAL I will need. My plan is to use the 250 grain SMKs for target but will use other 250s for hunting also.
Any ideas on what OAL I need to set up this dummy round so I can get the best use of bullet to rifling adjustment without having a long throat?
Thanks, Nathan

Measure your magazine box. Load up a dummy round 10-20 thousandths shorter than the magazine box. Make sure that that length bullet will also eject as a loaded round. Use the bullet you plan to use the most..........DJ

3,600 is near that I can fit in my magazine too.

But I think the COL on 338 RUM is 91mm (3,583").
