last year ago we bought my daughter[then 12] a youth 700 rem adl , in 243, the factory loads still were to much for her . She had been practing with a 22 hornet and a heavy barrel .223 which she liked,and had virtually no recoil. so I made some very light loads to start with for the .243 like 20g h4895 w/100g soft point ,then 24g's of h4895. We 've progressed to pretty close to full power loads now without problems. Now she says it doesn't kick, took most of the year for her to get used to it. I'm partial to rugers but this was in stock, she liked it and pretty easy to get a full size stock later.
