416Tanzanmaking homebrew copper solvent
I need some help getting some copper solvent in Tanzania.
Back in the US I have plenty of Barnes' product and like it very much.
However, airplanes and the TSA folk have ammonia-based liquids on a 'no-no' list. And while someone might be able to justify putting three-ounces in a suitcase, it may also be flat illegal (I don't know the exact law--don't quote me either way).
So how does one concoct some pungent copper cleaner home-brew out of grocery goods or hardware goods? Tanganyika Arms only carries a powder solvent with no ammonia. My rifles stay in Tanzania and can't go to the US for a scrub down.
Any help would be appreciated.

500NBuy Some WIPE Out Patch Out and get it shipped over as it is NOT classed as DG.
It does NOT contain ammonia but cleans copper out really well.
Have a look at this thread in the Double Rifle forum. I have also put the links.

If your area has a blue-line shop (blueprints are becoming old fashioned but there are still a lot of them around) or a supply house that sells 28% ammonia for the production of blue-line prints, get a gallon. It's dirt cheap will remove alll the cooper without any additives. A print shop that uses it will often give away the partial bottle left over when they change ammonia in the printer.
Be advised that it will chase you out of a room without ventilation, though

Doc224/375Janitorial ammonia :Is a solution of 10% or more an will do the trick ,
Windex window cleaner will also work just not quite as fast or well.
Some older type oven foaming spray cleaners contain enough solution for copper fouling removal .
Make sure to swab the bore with a bore conditioner break free Kroil or (Hoppes #9) nitro solvent oil based
product AFTER cleaning is complete . If not Windex or ammonia solutions will rust the bore .
The strength of such solutions is measured in units of baume IE density , with 26 degrees baume being about
30 weight percent ammonia at 15.5 °C being the typical high concentration of a commercial janitorial
cleaning product.
Household ammonia ranges in concentration from 5 to 10 weight percent ammonia. Spray foaming glass
cleaners can vary in concentrations of ammonia %'s .

I use Bore Tech 'Eliminator' and avoid other Cu-removing stuff like the plague.
