Can't think of any reason I'd want to hunt sheep and goats. That said my two rifles would both be Wincheater 95s, one in 3006 and the other in 405. Both shooting hard cast bullets. Of the choices I'd say 270 Wby and 375 H&H. But my real preference would be exactly what I have in my safe: For small tasty animals a Heym SR30 in 6.5x55. For big tasty animals, or for animals that may think I'm tasty, a good Mauser actioned .375 H&H. It's not the caliber of the rifle that matters - It's the caliber of the man behind it.

I went 25-06 and 300WM. Predator hunting with the 25-06 and possible deer. 300WM for all big game. Over the 25-06 I would of said 243.

270 and 338 is what I have and they both work very well. There is enough overlap that they cover the species well. I'd shoot a moose with a 270 and a 140 grain TTSX and I'd shoot an antelope with the 338 and a .210 grain TSX

This was pretty much my thought on the subject. The 338 and 300 would be fine for anything from big deer to bear. If I was going to add another caliber I'd add a multi use varmint/antelope/deer caliber like the .243 or 6mm Remington. So, ideally, I'd say 6mm and .338, with that you'd have everything from prairie dog to grizzly covered.

If i had to pick 2 rifles and I can reload I would go with 20" barrle 308 Winchester and a 26" barrle 300 Weatherby Mag.. But my Remington Modle 7 in 260 Remington is very high on my list as well the 2 guns I cerently use now LOL if I had to buy my ammo ??? 24" barrle 30-06 and lever action Marlin 30/30 Win

You don't have my choices up there. I would pick a 243 and a 358 Winchester. That takes care of any thing I hunt or plan to hunt.

I agree with your 25-06 selection but would probably choose a 9.3x62 rather than a 300WM. I like 300WM's but like the utility of the 9.3 more. I have all three although I haven't yet drawn blood with the 9.3x62 as it is new. Start young, hunt hard, and enjoy God's bounty.

30/06 and 9.3x62. Now you have the same brass for both and a good range in bullet weights. You can borrow money but you can not borrow time. Go hunting with your family.

Ballistically, the pair are remarkably similar to the 270Win and 338WM, Except that over the 6.5, the 270 has a little more punch (i.e. energy, whether put primarily into velocity or bullet weight or a balanced mix of these). Likewise, over the 9.3 the 338WM has more energy. All four rounds fit in a standard bolt/magazine rifle. So take your pick. +-+-+-+-+-+-+ "A well-rounded hunting battery might include: 500 AccRel Nyati, 416 Rigby or 416 Ruger, 375Ruger or 338WM, 308 or 270, 243, 223" -- Conserving creation, hunting the harvest.

I voted 7-08 and 35 Whelen, but I personaly would prefer a 280 Rem and a Whelen as a two gun battery. And if your including Brown bears a 280 Rem and a 350 Norma would be even better. AK-47 The only Communist Idea that Liberals don't like.

280rem and 338wm for me, if the 280 won't handle it the 338 surely will with good handloads

How about some high-priced fun? 257 Wby & 375 Wby (in CRF M70's or 98's of course) Think that pretty much covers anything that walks here If you think every possible niche has been filled already, thank a wildcatter!

6.5X55 loaded to 60K @ 129gr bullets for sheep & such. 8X57 loaded to 60K W/200 or 250gr bullets would handle anything else on the North American continent. GOOGLE HOTLINK FIX FOR BLOCKED PHOTOBUCKET IMAGES https://chrome.google.com/webs...inkfix=1516144253810

Yep, load a 280 Rem to 270 Win pressure specs & it is a close match for 7mm Rem Mag. I was getting 3250 fps out of a 24" barrel W/139gr Interbonds over all the MRP I could (easily) stuff into the 280 case. Predicted pressure was under 62K. RL22 is a close 2nd but unlike MRP, it will get over pressure in the 280 case W/140gr pills. 3150 was tops for 139gr bullets W/RL22 GOOGLE HOTLINK FIX FOR BLOCKED PHOTOBUCKET IMAGES https://chrome.google.com/webs...inkfix=1516144253810
