Was wondering if anyone had reports from the field using this bullet on game in a 9.3? I have had bad luck with Ballistic Tips in the past with deer sized game in smaller calibers with higher velocities. I figured the lower impact velocities of the 9.3 cartridges and the heafty weight of this bullet would probably make it a good game round.

Normally I'm a Hornady man. Seeing as how they don't make a bullet in this diameter (yes I've emailed them), I figured I'd take a look at the Ballistic Tip again. Primary use would be for these little Alabama Whitetails ranges from 20yds to 250yds.

Ballistic Tip problems in the past where from 130gr 270 bullets at close range (50yds or less). They wouldn't exit. If it doesn't exit, I don't like it.

Thanks.

I loaded some for my buddies 9.3x62. He shot two deer with them. One an averege whitetail doe at 100 yards broadside, hit her behind the shoulder, went thru her. The other was a Large mulie doe at about 350 yards, same shot and results. The exit hole on the mulie was larger.

I have a commercial Mauser in 9.3x62, full stock, etc., etc... that was made in Germany in 1933. I bought it from KurtC here at Classified. It shoots the 250 grain Nosler BT into less than 1", and that's with a 1x4 Leupold and my shakey old hands. I've only taken one animal with the combination, a boar hog of nearly 300 #'s. I shot him in the "shield" on purpose (maybe 3/4" of grissle). The load Chrony'ed at 2450 fps and the distance to the hog was only 15 yards so the bullet was still pretty fast. I got complete penetration and a nickel-sized exit hole. I was happy with the results, of course. I'd shoot an elk with it in a flash if I had a broadside presentation. BTW, Ray is older and shakier than me.
