A copy of the commercial FN that was made in Spain. There has always been some speculation as to whether the actions were forged or cast.

Quality wise, I would rate them below the Interarms Mark X.

The Santa Barbara actions have always been suspect as to quality, they were also sold under the name of Century Arms or some other brand name...I have never known of one blowing up or anything else but all the custom smith talk dirty about them for what ever that's worth!! probably not much.

i have 1 in 7rem mag with a factory barrel & xxfancy maple stock i bought off auction arms for $325.actually for a very nice classic stock for a fn actioned 257 but it shoots .75" groups and my hunting partner wants it so i think they are ok but would not build an expensive custom rifle off a santa barbra action

be sure you like the trigger because there is not an aftermarket trigger that works on them, my gunsmith had 2 junker triggers and with the 1 from my gun made 1 really good reigger after we found out that timley and the lold triggers for a santa barbra did not fit my gun..

tom :

i believe an aftermarket trigger made by a company called Bold fits them. I saw it sold thru Boyd Gunstocks. www.boydboys.com.

I was looking to fit one on a Husqvarna FN Mauser action.

Cheers and Good shooting

Fajen Gunstocks made complete rifles a while back using this action. I think they were called "ACRA"?

I have a 1903A3 from a santa barbara 1942 sharpshooter. I got it at one of the local shops for $100 when it was a .30-06. I fired 2 rounds through it and had to pound the bolt open both times. Hence the $100 price tag. Kobe rebarreled it into 6.5-284 and the love affair with that rifle continues. I have got 2" groups at 300 yards from a rest of course.

I think a timney trigger or any Mauser trigger will work on them but you probably need to change the cocking piece...but thats about a $5.00 expense, so no biggie.
