I have bought or traded for several boxes of 170 grain 270 bullets, mostly Speer and a few boxes of a brand I have never heard of.

Does anyone have any experiances with bullets of this weight in the 270 WCF? I also thought I would try them in one of my 270 WSMs as well.

Ron, I would suggest you start with looking at the Nosler data for the 160 partition and decrease powder charges by 4-7 grains. You can also reference an older Barnes manual. I thought they used to make a 180 grain bullet for the 270.

Otherwise, give Speer a call and ask them to reference one of their older manuals.

My concern is whether or not a standard 1-10 twist is going to stabilize such a long bullet. I suppose it will, but they stopped making longer bullets in .277 for a reason.
