Fair enough. I just recall those two names on the list of companies Howa has made rifles for. Any idea what it did look like??

Quote: Correct. Howa 1500 = Weatherby Vanguard = S&W 1500 = Mossberg 1500. The Mossberg 1700 is a Howa 1500 with a detachable magazine. They are awesome shooters and vastly underrated. They are not CRF, so F what?

Didn't Mossberg make a centerfire bolt action rifle some years ago before dropping their entire rifle line altogether? I wonder if they have decided to reuse old tooling and reintroduce the old model or dcided to make a new one altogether... I had a report about it back in India which talked about four front locking lugs if I remember right. I guess the experts here could correct me if I am wrong. Good hunting!

Trev, Not really anything of a copy that is readily available in the USA Maybe something foreign like eastern Europe. I think it said made in the USA, but for $ 244.00 that is almost too good to be true unless some manufacturing engineers have got their act together and kicked out the accountants. Maybe it will show up in OZ at Wally Worlds there if you have them there. Cheers and Good shooting seafire

Indeed the rifle is a mossberg. I emailed them about a month ago and they stated that they were selling through wally world and that the atr 100 would be in their 2005 catalogues. Like seafire said, $244 and looks better than the 710. To me it would be a great barn gun if it could hit the broad side of it. turfman
