Choosing between 2. One is a Ruger #1B in 270, marked with the 200 year of freedom, In about 90%. If the ruger shoots it will stay a .270. if not it becomes a .257 Roberts AI. I can get the #1 for 529.00. The other is a cool old Brno 7X57. Its well used and has a nice little Burris FF2 in 1.75X5. The rub on the brno is that some fool put a kick eez pad on it.(what an ass)But I,m sure I could find an old pink pachmyer for it that would look more apropriate. The brno would cost 750.00. I am leaning towords the ruger at the moment Your comments welcome and apreciated...tj3006 freedom1st

I know it's your call, but the BRNO would be in my safe. I have a Ruger 1B, and had one terrible time getting it to shoot, with lots of trips to the gunsmith to sort it out. It is heavy, and I think the BRNO would be a better carrying weight rifle. Plus, I LOVE 7x57's. YMMV Don

I think I would be like you. Which rifle to choose? When I've been in that position, if possible, I'd try and get both. I love Ruger #1 rifles, and I dearly love the 7x57. Come to think of it, I'm glad I'm not in your shoes right now. I would try and get both and I know I'd be in grave danger of losing a serious part of my anatomy if the better half found out. I supose i should have added in my 1st post that I already have a 7X57 mauser (a #1A and a couple other rifkes that would serv the same purpose as the Bruno. Light fast handeling deer rifles. I have a .270 too an old FN. But I think the deciding factor is the 230.00. I would have to dip into funds I do not want to use for that purpose. ...tj3006 freedom1st
