Oringinally I wished to title this post "Why wont Savage make a rifle with a hinged floor plate? but it would not fit. Anyhow, I have always wondered why Savage wont do this, as it would make for a much more perferable rifle as oposed to a bling magizine. My guess is eithor cost or why mess with success or a combination of both. I own a 116 in 7mm STW and it lives up to the Savage rep of accuracy, but I positivly hate bling magizines, unfortunately I did not know this till after I bought the savage.

Art, I'd say it's to keep costs down, just like them cheap ass stocks they put on them, but I guess they do shoot, the 708 I had did pretty well, brother-in-law shoots alot of deer with it, but it sure looks cheap, Jay

In a nutshell, you can pay to have bottom metal, or a good barrel, but not both. FWIW, Dutch.

They were avaiable years ago with hinged floor plates. I remember in the 70's we were refitting old 110's with them to get away fom the solid steel plate. However the hinged ones were dropped later and the parts dried up. It was too easy to sell lots of detachable magazine guns. Jim Wisner Custom Metalsmith
