I just scored a very nice Mauser Supreme, (that is what the seller told me). I told myself if I came across another nice commercial Mauser action I was not going to pass it up. It is just that. Very nice for the dollar. It has been poorly refinished but I can fix that. The rest of the rifle is 95-97% I love it already and just picked it up today. I am in a pickle though. I was going to buy a remington to build a 6mm rem on. Now I've spent my stash money. Oh well. I'll take some pictures and send them to someone as I can't post them myself if anyone is interested.

I think it strange that two of these rifles pop up in the same day in the same caliber. I didn't want to step all over the other thread so I started this one. My rifle has a serial number in the 11,000 range. Does anyone know what year this puts the rifle? what is it worth? I paid in the 400 dollar range.

That's not a bad price at all. As far as a date goes, my FN .270 has 1952 stamped on, IIRC the left side of the barrel. The one I have in 30-06 does not have a date, Go figure. But the 30-06 has been rebarreled many years ago as the original barrel was badly corroded so thee may have been a date stamp on it's original barrel. (I got into that one super cheap beause of the bad barrel. Cool)
I also have an FN .270 from right around 1973. Both rifles have proven to be very accurate so I iagine yours should also be a good shooter.
Paul B.
It now sits in a McMillan stock and the barrel has a non-standard 1 in 12" twist.

I need a 6mm. That is what I was looking for when I bought this rifle. I may rebarrel it or another 270 that is on a Rem 700 action. We will have to see how this one shoots. DW
