I did some more shootin with my #1A today. I am really starting to like this rifle. The best load so far was the 140 grain B-tip over 50 grains of H-414. Great groups and 2835 fps. I tried some other stuff today, I got .7 with a 140 grain tripple shock over 50.5 grains of H-414. Witch was quite good, that woud be a great load for somthing like caribu or even Elk. I got some strange results with a 140 grain Sierra flat base over 53.2 grains oh H-4831. 1st 2 bullets into.4 Next 3 into .55 but there was a 1.4 inch gap between the 2 groups. Rather strange. I have allways wanted to get the 154 grain hornady to shoot well, but no luck so far. Today 6, into 1.5 with 3 into .55, that with 50 grains of IMR-4350. It might be worth trying that one again. I am going to keep 10 rounds on hand with the loads for the 140 grain Balistic tip and the 140 grain t-shock. Those will make deadly loads for sure...tj3006 freedom1st

I have had GREAT accuracy results in my 7X57mm 1A with the 150-grain Nosler BT and 50 grains of IMR 4350...2750 FPS. This load also shoots well in a Venezuelan FN M 1924 Mauser. And a mild load, too! "Bitte, trinks du nicht das Wasser. Dahin haben die Kuhen gesheissen."

My 98 Mauser is very accurate with 49 grains of IMR-4350 and the 154 Hornady Spire Point, averaging .983" at 100 yards for 4 groups.

The best load I've found for two 7x57's is 49.0 grains of H-414 with 140 grain Nosler Partitions. It's a go-to load, shoots very well. My son uses that load too. Don

While I am BIG fan of H 414.. I don't use it in the 7 x 57... If you are having trouble getting the 154 grain Hornady's to shoot....try IMR 4064 ( starting at about 40 grains... potentially working up to about 44 grains.. with the bullet seated out to about 80 mm COAL, if your rifle's throat will take it that long)... 40 grains of IMR 3031 also works VERY well...with that bullet weight. along with a host of other bullet weights.. Factory Ruger chambers just seem to love 40 grains of 3031.. don't ask me why.. they just do... While I have two Rugers and one Win Featherweight in 7 x 57, I tend to carry the Winchester, for obvious reasons.. but also because it is not finicky at all on what you feed it.. it is very accurate with about anything... That rifle's loads the past couple of seasons tho has been 44 grains of IMR 4985, CCI Large Rifle primer, and a 140 grain Ballistic Tip.. which is giving an MV right at 2800 fps... its accuracy would be good by varmint rifle standards even... Substituting Rem 140 grain Corelokts or 139 grain Hornady SPs has no effect on accuracy or changes the point of impact... zeroed 3.5 inches high at 100 yds, it is easily a 300 yd load in the Model 70..... A Leupold in a 3 x 9 , with a heavy German Number one reticle tops her off....

Seafire, I had tried the new mfg RP corelokt not long ago in a few ctg's, and accuracy was suspect. I DO know I was using up some various powders so my loads were not THE best loads, so I could not determine accuracy potential with the RP bullets. Did you say they are doing about the same as the Hornady's? Thanks.

I tried the hornady 154 grain with the following load so far,51 grans of Win 760, not good at all, 42.5 grains IMR-4064 better but only 2 inches, for 3 shots, 50 grains of IMR 4350 did 1.5. So far I have 6 good loads for this rifle, all with 140 grain bullets, sierra barnes and all three noslers , b-tips accubonds and partitions, so it is plenty ready for deer slaying, I,m setting it aside for awhile , and playing with some of my other toys, see my post on 3 good loads for the .308, In another month it will be time get a couple of my elk rifles out...tj3006 freedom1st

My wife's 7X57 liked 414 and 140Accubond. Only issue was I couldn't find a group above 2500. Switched to RL19. 49grs and the bullet seated long gives 2750 and the first 3 touching. As usual just my $.02 Paul K

working on loads in these days to go to Namibia on 23th of June, VithaVuory N140 46,5 grs using Barnes TSX 140 grs bullets, Norma Cases and Federal GM210 primers. 100 meters a 10 mm group. VithaVuory N140 43,5 grs using Sierra Game King 140 grs bullets, Norma Cases and Federal GM210 primers. 100 meters a 25 mm group, 200 meters a 30 mm group. Take in considrattion that I have a reticle 1 ( German) in my SB, not a normal one and that is more difficult to obtain little groups with it. bye Stefano Waidmannsheil

Ramrod reminds me that the CZ 550 i used to load for lived RL-19 with the 160 grain bullets, I tried 50.5 grains with a 162 grain hornady in my #1A but it did,nt do for me, i might try it again though with some other bullets...tj3006 freedom1st

Yeah, my accuracy was on par with the Hornadys! My Rugers are finicky, my Model 70 isn't!
