Wondering if anyone has used this bullet in a 338 Win on elk sized game. Trajectory is plenty good at the ranges I intend to shoot.

I have seen it used on elk and some larger plainsgame in Africa..Its an excellent bullet and seems to perform about like a partition Nosler..That said, I have so much faith in the partition that I hesitate to change over albeit I do have some 300 H&H and 30-06 ammo loaded wit 200 gr. Accubonds and some 225 and 250 accubonds loaded up, perhaps for this fall, they sure are accurate bullets..

I used a 250 Accubond for a big bull elk this last fall, but the cartridge for 338 RUM. I was using Re33 and 3049 fps with a 26" barrel.

I shot him at a fast walk at 330 yds, and the 250 Accubond hit him in the rump. The 250 killed him, because the bullet destroyed the great vessels in his pelvis and broke his back.

Nosler manual says 2780 fps., if I can get 2700+ I'll probably try them.

Use RL-22 and you can get 2800 FPS as a rule..My 338 Win.gets me 2822 FPS at 12 yards, for 10 shots taking out the high and the low round. I get that with a slightly over book max load of RL-19 and any 250 gr. bullet. RL-22 gives me a max load of RL-22 and 2766 FPS in my rifle, and a bit more pressure and less velocity. I can use two extra grs in my guns over book if I am amind to, and without any problems, sometimes I do and sometimes I don't, it depends on the brass and how long the primer pockets last. I definatly like to know where MY rifles max load is and that can be below or above max depending on the rifle..Ive found I can back off a grain or two or add a grain or two, and call it good. Its a lot of work and trouble to do, and most may be better off to just shoot a gr. below book max and be done with it.

I also have all the major reloading books loads combined by caliber in one book. Those little spiral notebooks cost $1.98 per caliber and show most of the load data listed in all or most of the reloading books out there..real handy litte boogers, and saves you a bundle. They come in a lot of caliber and some of them combine for instance the 300 H&H and the 375 H&H..I think I got mine from Cabelas?? not sure.I also have a library of reloading books that I spent a fortune on over the years..

I have used them, switched back to the 225gr Accubond, couldn't see any difference in penetration, but, trajectory is flatter with the 225gr. I take shots well past 400yrds, so I need the flattest trajectory.

Cheers.

Can't find 225 Accubonds anywhere right now. 400 yds. is my personal limit, but with that said, I've never shot anything beyond 300. The 338 at 2750 has the same trajectory as my 30-06 180 load at 2800, so I'm used to it. I know energy figures don't mean everything, but, the 338 250 has more energy at 300 yds, than the 06 180 at the muzzle.

I shot my elk at a lasered 354 yards off hand as that's the only option I had but we were in open country, so took the shot. My 210 Nosler partition hit her ( a huge lead cow ) in the shoulder, broke both shoulders and exited leaveing a 2 inch exit hole, she made it about 15 or 20 yards with both shoulders shattered, that was amazing it itself...The coming season I will use my long throated, long magazine .338 Win with the new 300 gr. Accubond perhaps, but Im also taking my .348 Win with Gerards 180 gr HP at 2700 FPS if I get in the thick stuff.
