NEVER. But.....at this point there aren't any items that are really giving me an itch. I am more interested now in learning some of it myself and in helping others do theirs, family and friends that is. I have a few of the bore sizes already but really NEED the following:

224 Clark
223
257 Roberts AI or 25 Winters
338win.
416 Rigby
404 Jeff
10.75 x something big
505 gibbs
500 just to show my smith can make them feed

then I need a few duplicate bore diameters. I need a matched springfield to my 308 norma but in 358 Norma (even though I have a whelen AI). I need short action versions of some things, wildcats for comparisons etc. etc. you get the picture.

mine will never be complete. i agree with the woman and the shoes thing, that's how it is with me and guns. my most recent purchase was a new colt 1911 45. it's funny, how on a shoestring buget, i can't always find money to get groceries, or take the lady out, but there is ALWAYS money for firearms and ammo!

NO!!! Projects for 2005 include adding a .416 Hoffman and a .425 Express to the list.

I have a 12ga 22lr 243 270wsm 30-06

my current definition of complete will be to add

223 35x 45/70

Then I will redefine complete, I want to span the caliber range before I start duplicating with different chamberings for the same calibers

just figured i would ask this for curiosity.IS YOUR COLLECTION COMPLETE?????

Well to cover my most basic needs I would need around 120-130 long guns(rifles and shotguns). To have fairly complete collection it would be close to 1800 long guns

Cheers

Johan has the right idea.

I came to this conclusion recently, I love guns for the sake of the gun, the beauty, engineering, underrated complexity. I hardly shoot the guns I have any more, and don't hunt as much as I would like. And even if I never shot or hunted again I would still want more guns. I love them. and not just for me, lately I am trying to convince all my friends to let me help them build guns. mabye if you could get me the entire contents of the ACGG show this year I would be close to happy, but then I know of at least 3 or 4 guns that wont' be there that I would really like.

yes, I am truly sick.

I almost have nine rifles: a 22-250 (long distance), 270 all custom (favorite long distance), 9mm ruger carbine, Mini-30 762x30, 30-30 trapper (last three are plinking), a S&W 7mm bolt (is ok), model 7400 carbine in 30-06 (favorite hunting rifle), .338 custom (will be favorite hunting rifle), but not yet finished, and an M-1 Garand, not yet picked up (show).

Let's see, I still want a large caliber rifle (H&H 375), and I just love the way the SAKO .308 Finnlight looks, and the .308 would be a cheaper long distance rifle.

To compare, I have two pairs of pumps for work, two pairs of sneakers (one pair is strictly for the gym), one pair of hiking boots, and one pair of heavy duty pac boots for hunting. That is six pairs of shoes against nine rifles. I wear out my shoes and replace them, I upgrade my rifles... and add to the collection.

Guys, come on now, just like men and tools do not necessarily go hand in hand (please read verbatim , no other meaning other than just that was meant), women and shoes is (are???) not synonymous either.

Of course I have enough pairs of shoes, but I will never have enough rifles!!!!

So far I've got:

12ga - Remington Autoloader blued/synthetic

.22LR - Ruger 77/.22 blued/wood

.243 Winchester - Remington Model 7 blued/wood

.270 Winchester - Winchester semi-custom Model 70 blued Kreiger w/McMillan synthetic

7mm Remington Magnum - Ruger M77 MkII stainless/synthetic

.30-06 Springfield - Winchester Model 70 blued/wood

Which isn't bad for the game I hunt. But I really NEED the following:

.257 Bob - Ruger M77 MkII lightweight blued/wood

.338 Winchester Magnum - Savage 116FSAK stainless/synthetic

.375 H&H for BIG game - Winchester Model 70, of course! blued/finely figured wood

And because my poor M70 FWT in 6.5x55 became my .270 after needing a rebarrel, I wouldn't mind a new 6.5x55!

Ah finally someone mentioned the double rifle which is a long way away for me, but a must to complete the collection, and then maybe a lazzaroni, and a dozen other odds and ends.............Of course no less significant

I was into Weatherbys then I got a couple, then Remington M700's (which I will always buy), and now Blasers ( have 2 an S-2 and a K-95). I own a lot of other guns but those are the 3 that I really want right now.

I think I have about 30, but it's a long way back into the back of that vault.

What I love is when you dig back there and see stuff you forgot. I just found a 1895 405 that I forgot that I had.

Okay, I'll bite. Below is my current assortment of long guns.

Mauser, Model 98, 8x57mm, w/ 4x Leupold
Remington, 700 ADL, .300 Win. Mag. w/ 3x9 Leupold Vari-X II
Remington, 700 BDL, .308 Win. w/ 2x7 Bausch & Lomb
Remington, 870 Express, 12 ga.
Remington, 870 Express, 20 ga.
Remington, Model 7 , .260 Rem., w/ 2x7 Nikon Monarch
Rossi, Model 92, .45 Colt
Ruger , 10/22, .22 RF, w/3x9 Bushnell
Winchester, Model 70, .375 H&H, w/ 2x7 Leupold Vari-X II HD
Winchester, Model 97, 12 ga.

I need a good bolt action .22LR.

I want several other guns and I'm seriously considering trying Kimbers as follows.

Kimber 22 Classic, 22 lr, w/ 3x9 Leupold Vari-X Compact EFR
Model 84 Classic, .308 Win., w/ 2.8x8 Leupold VX-III
Model 8400 Montana, .325 WSM, w/ 2.8x8 Leupold VX-III
Model 8400 Super America, .416/.325 WSM wildcat, w/ 1.75x6 Leupold VX-III

Then I'd probably get rid of the two Remington 700s to make room. Can't think of a reason to get rid of anything else.
