I have purchased a lifetime x2 supply of the 2nds from midway for my 9.3x62 and 9.3x66 are these bullets comparable to the privi bullets or a touch better. For those who have used them on game how did they perform? Any great loads or do I just throw 58.5 gr Rl 15 in and go?

Lynn,

I simply popped them on top of my standard 286 grain 9.3x62 VV N-140 load; crimped them in the cannlure with a Lee Factory Crimp die and cut loose.

Pluncked 'em from the Get-Go and shot two seasons of Driven Hunted Wild Boar & Red Deer with them - they worked perfect, although I can't account for the many that went into the Drive Hunt "Black Hole" ..... I did notice some great terminal perfomance on those "close" tree hits, too.

Cheers,

Those bullets work well on deer, elk and all the African plains game..I would use them on Lion or even buffalo if I had to..The 9.3x62 is kind to bullets with its medicore velocity, thus bullets do not tend to come apart and penetration is usually fantastic..

I have loaded 58.5 to 59 grs of RL 15 in all my 9.3x62s with 286 and 300 gr. bullets, its become my standard load so your on track. H414 is also a good powder and gives good velocities..

With 320 gr. Woodleighs I use a bit less RL-15 and suggest a 24 or even better a 26 inch barrel. The 9.3x62 really cooks with a long tube..However that said my 9.3x62, 7x57 switch barrel Brno mod. 21 rifle has 20 inch tubes so I operate it about 75 FPS less than most of my other 9.3x62s shot. It gets 2309 average for 10 shots FPS with 320 gr. Woodleighs and thats a max load for this gun.

Thanks for the input, Ray I have tried H414 and got great accuracy but velocity was very low, guess my batch is just slow. That is why I use Rl 15. Bullets should arrive early next week so will work up some loads and post how it goes. Thanks, Lynn

I've swaged down the 286gr to 35cal and they shot well out of my Norma,,I'm going to guide a couple of brown bear hunts this spring so there is a possibility of testing them, although I know they will work perfectly! Jim

I tend to use more than enough gun

I got better accuracy with the Hornady bullets than the Prvi in my three x62 rifles. The Prvi also started to flatten primers sooner than any of the other bullets I've used in them. I basically use the same load of Varget and zero with the Hornady as the Nosler partition but don't remember the recipe off the top of my head. It's the upper limit off of the Hodgdon's website.
