Sweet! Where did you get it? I have a 270 and 9.3x62 barrels and would like another in 8x57, or 6.5x57.

Alex Roy, at Eurooptics ordered it from Sauer USA in San Antonio, for me.

What did the barrel run you?

I have a pair of 200's in 30/06 and spare barrels in 6.5x55 and 9.3x62.

I would love to find additional barrels.

Yep, I need more barrels. But they're so damn expensive - I'd love to have your 6.5x55.

You can buy a two Rugers or three Savages for the price of one barrel. lol

Dr. Lou.

I am afraid to ask what barrels are going for.My first 200 ran me $750 with the 3x9 Swarowski.

My Second 200 ran me $620.00 out the door last year in a gun shop in Colorado Springs.

My 9.3x63 Barre ran me $200 and my 6.5x55 barrel ran mu just under $300.

Somehow I think I may be in for some sticker shock.

I was going to just buy a barrel, but for some reason the Sauer component prices are pretty high, compared with the price of a whole rifle. I was also told that compenents shipped from Germany much slower than complete rifles, and I did not want to wait a year for a barrel.

Both my Blaser 8X57 barrels shoot the 185 Remington bullets lights out, but so far the little Sauer has turned its nose up against them. However it loves to dine on 180 grain Nosler Ballistic tips. Note the target I shot at was an old one, and there is a 25 caliber hole on the left side of this group.

For the prices you paid for your barrels you should be arrested for theft. Metric barrels seem impossible to find and the more common 270, 06, etc are going for $1000 and up! I bought my NIB 202 synthetic with McMillan stock for $1400. My 9.3x62 started life as a 270 was rebored. Shoots great! I paid $200 for the 9.3 mag and have seen them go for much more. Best bet is to buy a used rifle that comes with multiple barrels. Also, there's a gentleman on AC that will make you a barrel. I am saving my pennies. I'd ask if you were interested in selling one of your barrels but I won't waste your and my time. lol

They are charging 200 dollars to look down a barrel with a borelight now, another 50 if you want to hold it at the same time.

I recently bought a new 202 9.3x62 barrel and paid just shy of $1200 for it. Eeker Needless to say, I wanted it REALLY BAD, and in reality, the barrel doubled the "value" of the gun. Roll Eyes

Doc I might have to consider selling one of the 06 barrels.

Today I pulled triggger on my first Safari for June 15-30 of 2011.

THis thing is going to cost me what I like to refer to as a "poop ton" of money. So a possible sale of things may be in my furute to fund this adventure.

That is insane price for just a rifle barrel. I
bought .300H&H Browning Safari grade rifle with 2-7x Browning marked scope for less then that. Yes, that is entire gun in excellent condition I might add. It would not be so disasterous if the barrel was in popular caliber like .338 Winchester or .375 H&H. An extra 9.3 barrel will add about $200 to the price of that gun. Good luck getting your money out of that rig if you ever decide to sell it.

It is beautiful rifle. Too bad it was made in a foreign county where many inhabitants do not like us. Frankly when buying new I prefer to buy quality domestic rifles that way I keep our craftsmen working not theirs.

A lot of the inhabitants of this country do not like us ether. Six of one, half dozen of the other. Fortunatly for us, I feel that the owner and employees of Sauer do like us. Same as the folks that made your Browning Safari 300 H&H.

I am glad you like your BELGIUM made Browning rifle with your Japanese made scope.

I believe the popularity of the 9.3x62 in the US would surprise you, and for the record, I bought the rifle and barrel to keep not resell. Had my intention been resale, I more than likely wouldn't have bought a new barrel in the first place.

I just wish our craftsman turned out rifles of like quality and innovation. Most of the american rifles I see now are cheap made and built to a price "cheap" price point with very little focus on quality or fit and finish.

I wish I had a good American option, I'd buy

I do buy US made optics when I can. I have bought 3 Leupold VX-7's in the last few weeks and I really like them, clear, good build quality and priced right. I will continue to give leupold my money--best service in the business.

By coachsells at 2010-07-01

Now Maybe if we can get an american gun company to compete with Sauer/Mauser/Blaser/Steyr

I would have much rather had a factory 9.3x62 barrel, but couldn't find any. I found my barrel, which was a 270 that had been rebored, for $500 + $200 for the new 9.3x62 specific mag. I am happy with my purchase.

How does your re-bore shoot?

You do have an American rifle maker option. I am very impressed with my NULA muzzleloader and wouldn't hesitate buying one of their centerfire rifles.

Jeff, it shoots .75-1 inch with Barnes X 250s and RL15. I have some 286s to try next. I am sure it will do better if I played with different loads. I am definitely satisfied. "huntingcat" makes 202 barrels for a reasonable price. Actually, I bought my 9.3 barrel from him. patriot

I am actually shooting 250 gr Barnes X bullets in my 202 9.3 barrel as well, but I am using Varget powder. I wanted to shoot the cheap 285 gr PRVI bullets, but I can't get them to feed consistently.

You might also want to try the 250 gr Accubonds. They will literally shoot one hole at 100 yards out of my R-93 9.3 Tracker barrel, and I use Varget for all my 9.3 loads.

Just send huntincat a PM. Funny you mention 338-06. He had one for sale (that he made) when I bought my 9.3 barrel. He's a great guy to work with.

Border Barrels in Scotland make replacement Sauer 202 barrels. As far as I can see, they make an adapter to fit the Sauer receiver and in turn this is threaded to one of their custom barrels. The barrels are absolutely top quality, used in F class etc.

I don't know what it would cost to get one to the US, pretty sure there would be no change from $1,000, but it opens up a range of calibre/cartridge options that you will never get from the Sauer factory.

The website is crap, but I am sure they would respond to a phone call or an email.

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

Ron checked into getting Border barrels imported into the US. I don't remember the details, but there was a problem.

It would be nice to have another source for Sauer barrels even if the price was the same. It appears like Sauer is doing better, but their barrel availability has pretty much sucked here in the US. According to Paolo, I paid way too much for my 9.3 barrel, but I was just happy that they had exactly what I wanted IN STOCK when I wanted it.

Note sure what their worth really is, but paying same price as whole new Kimber sporter and getting just the barrel seems very unreasonable to me.

Yes, Sauer barrels are expensive, but the advantage of buying one over a new Kimber is that the Sauer barrel will work. I speak from experience.

I don't think you're stupid just because you paid a lot for something which you wanted real bad. I made the same mistake buying Remington 660 in .350 Remington. To most peoples eyes it's an ugly rifle in almost obsolete caliber. moon
