Anyone have any experience with this bullet on game? I'm loading up for a Plains Game hunt in South Africa, and have discovered I can get 2600+ fps with the Oryx, equating to 3500 foot pounds which is more than enough for Kudu, Wildebeest, and Waterbuck. Anyway, how well do those bullets hold together? I would have tried them on whitetails, but I know they would just shoot thru like a .50 cal. Comments or experience??

It has been discussed a number of times. If you do a search you may turn up the threads. I have only used it on game once and it was fine at lower speeds. I think they are pretty soft and would not hotrod them. Other members here have a lot more experience with them.

Well,I loaded up some of the 232gr Oryx at 2650fps out of my 9.3x62. Shot an antelope and a buck deer. Recovered one, lots of penitration, weighed 221gr and was 70 calibre. Seems quite soft but obviously got the job done. Due to low BC with the Oryx it has very little advantage over a 286gr NP at 2400+fps so I just stick with the NP. The NP's are more accurate in my rifle.

The Oryx is a fine bullet but it´s not an A-frame so keep the speeds down. It should be fine for the game intended.

Thanks for the comments guys, My current load is generating 2630 fps, so I guess I am in the ball park for the 232 Oryx. Am also experimenting with the RWS 256 grain H-Mantle, an accurate bullet, at 2400 fps.
