I am rebarrelling my 280 Remington to AI. I am planning to use it for long range hunting / target shooting. For the targets I am planning to use 162 grs A-max because of the BC it has. However on the box of bullets it state's the barrel requires 1:8. I was planning to use a Lothar Walter barrel as I have had very good results with these barrrels earlier, but LW can only supply a 1:10 twist. Has anyone experience with these bullets in barrels other than 1:8. Thanks Glen I'm all in favor of keeping dangerous weapons out of the hands of fools. Let's start with typewriters." Well, I shoot the Sierra 175-grain PSPBT in my 7mm Rem Mag. which has a 1/9.5" twist, and it is plenty good. I don't think the Hornady 162 is any longer. But a 1/8" would do well with such a long bullet. "Bitte, trinks du nicht das Wasser. Dahin haben die Kuhen gesheissen."

I shoot 162gr A-maxs through my 280AI and its got a 26" 1-9twist. shoots them pretty dam good. the only reason they state 1-8 is because people with 7mm08s etc were trying to shoot them with a slow twist barrel and they wernt stablising the bullets properly i believe a few years ago the box used to say 1-9?

In 7RM I've achieved groups in the .2-.3 MOA range with the 162 Amax in a 1/9.25 twist. Good Luck Reloader
