Well I guess I'll be finding out first hand. Sportsmen guide has RWS 30'06 In 184 grain for $23 a box. It's been along time since I bought factory hunting ammo, and now I'll have 7 boxes to praise or bitch about. The brass is supposed to be very good though.

Awesome ammo! I wish they still imported it! Fochcci was importing it and fell out of love with them or something.

My 308 loves the 184grain load! Buy it up!!!!!

UNI (former TUG) tu2 - I used it (still do) in my 9,3x62 and 9,3x74R tu2, especialy for that price!!!, FYI a box would cost you ~ 80U$ (60€) here in EU Wink and yes brass is 1st class.

It had, maybe still has, a reputation for high quality components BUT loaded hot! In fact it is said that it is the hottest loaded, calibre for calibre, of ANY factory ammunition.

I agree, RWS do tend to stoke their ammo a bit... Not to the point where it is unsafe, but it is often you see more pressure in RWS ammo compared to most other brands - Weatherby by Norma perhaps being the exception.

Quality wise, RWS is normally good stuff. It is the traditional brand shot in Central Europe.

Go-Joe,

RWS makes some pretty good ammo and at the price you're quoting, a real bargan.

Their proprietary bullet line is very good; so if it's other than Teilmantel or Kegelspitz (both a Cup & Core bullet) it's not stuff I'd be taking out to Back 40 to plink with.

I use the brass also and it really takes a beating - IMO good stuff.

Cheers,

Thanks for the reply, I should have jumped on this ammo months ago. I placed my order for 7 boxes and one went back order, the rest should ship. I 'll give this a go. If it shoots well I'll look for more. RWS with the Rap-x (evo) bullet was also available @ $26 a box it's out of stock also. I just have a feeling that there must be a hook of some kind. The price is 40% off of what I find it going for elsewhere, we'll see.

I used it alot in my .270. Very accurate, good bullet and by reputation RWS brass is as good or better than Lapua. Saved all my brass and now reload...

The only problem I have ever seen W/RWS ammo is the price. Eeker

Seems like you got one helluva deal in this case.

I placed an order for 7 boxes, status shows 6 shipped with one backorder. I had then placed another order for 5 more boxes which also showed up as a backorder and the order is unconfirmed. They may not have the ammo to fill the back orders? I'll just have to take the 6 confirmed boxes and be happy. 30'06 184 grain Uni bullet @ 21.97 a box is cheap. I wonder why??

I chronographed RWS 30.06 ammunition ( 180 gn Evo ) in my rifle and it is not hot . Performance velocity wise way below my handloads of 57 gns. of H4350 .

Just guessing, but it's probably being discontinued and they're unloading inventory.

RWS is fine ammo.

Stay away from Hirtenberger from Austria.

It is loaded way too hot for anything we have tried it in, regardless of caliber.

I received my ammo from Sportsmens. It's late production, in new style boxes. I don't see any problem with it. I guess it was just a very good bargin. Score! maybe my luck is changing. Now if those moose tags will just come....
