Does anyone know of an on-line source where guns are sold at good prices? I'd prefer to buy locally but I would also like to look at prices (not msrp's) of some rifles that are not available locally.

GunsAmerica has prices.

I would buy local but be prepared with the prices as your doing.

The three big hitters that come to mind, one of which was already mentioned are:

www.gunsamerica.com
www.gunbroker.com
www.auctionarms.com

I have purchased guns using both Gunsamerica and Auctionarms and had no problems with the sellers. My brother had the same experience with someone off of Gunbroker. It all comes down to who the seller is really. There are good deals to be had online. The thing to factor in is the price of the FFL transfer and shipping. The going rate for an FFL transfer around here I think is $25 and shipping is usually $25 atleast.

Regards,
Tom

I've bought several on both gun broker and AA. New and used from both private parties and dealers alike. I had one deal that went really slow through a pawn broker but other than that my experiences have been positive. I bought a 250 etronex varmit a few weeks ago with 200 rounds of ammo brand new in the factory sealed box for $589.00 + $20 ship and $20 transfer. that's $629 out the door. I gave my local dealer a shot first...he wanted $1099. + 6% sales tax + $5 from the state. I like to do local but .....I was born at night but it wasn't last night!!

I've done this before, but decided I'm gonna keep my local dealer employed Besides once you pay shipping/handling and transfer fees, your good deal usually isn't one anymore. Now IF I find something unusual, I might ask him to do a transfer for me, but other wise I just deal with him.
Buying guns on the net to save money is like driving 20 miles to save $3 on a shovel, it just ain't worth it!

I'd never get the deals at local shops and gunshows as with AA,GB, and GA, and you can't even compare the selection. My dad will mention a rifle for sale locally and I go online and find him the same one for MUCH less.
Also, for shipping: If the auction doesn't get any bites I'll usually email the seller and ask if they'll pay shipping and most of the time they will if no one bids.

I'm not crazy about Gunbroker, though. The 15 minute rule is stupid. If people would put their max bid in initially there'd be no problem. I put my bids in with twelve seconds left. People who had "max" bids all the sudden decide they'll pay more---"fish or cut bait" comes to mind...
