Greetings
Just came back from a G-show and my brother picked up a interarms Mark X in 30-06. On the barrel is Emdeko P O Ackley SLC Utah 30-06.

Just wondering if any one has history about this rifle- company and about when was this made? Any info would be welcome...
Thanks A.C.

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

To paraphrase ]D Humbarger, there is no way we can know much.

Interarms was an importer for a long time, from the 60s to the mid 80s or later. The Mark X was their flagship rife and most were made in Yogoslavia, some in Spain.

P.O. Ackley was a well known long time gunsmith/tinkerer and wildcat experimenter who lived, mostly, in Ogden, Utah, but he spent some time in Salt Lake City and a few other places. He died maybe 25-30 years ago.

Your brother's rifle is a good hunting arm and worth what a hunter will pay for it in the condition it's in now. It really has no collector value.

I have no idea what "Emdeko" means.

From a buddy of mine who worked under Ackley right before his death...

"P.O. had sold out to a home appliance company called Emdeko who sold the rifles along with household lines. They went out of business, and Ackley got it back..... this was sometime in the mid to late 70's as I recall.

They are relatively rare, but I have not seen them garner any collector's value."
