Anyone have any data for the 9.3X62 using this bullet? I can find data for the 300 gr bullet but not for the 286.

Any and all info would be greatly appreciated.

Were can I buy this bullet ? I don’t see it on Swift website...only the 250 and the 300 gr. bulllet ! Is it already on the market ?

Haven't seen any data for the 286-gr A-Frame yet. This weight is new and I've only seen it offered in the Federal factory loads for the 9.3x62 and 370 Sako Mag.

Hopefully, Swift will make this available as a component soon. I never understood why they chose to make the 300-gr AF and only now got around to the "traditional" 286-gr.

my father in law got drawn for nm oryx. he'll be using his 9.3. what would someone recommend where his longest could be in the 300 yard range? i was thinking the 250 gr tsx?

Personally, I'd use the 300 grain data on the 286 and possibly when you're done working up the load you'll be about a grain or two more than the data for the 300 grain bullet

It's only 14 grains different!....less than 5%

In the past we were shooting Oryx at 200yds or so. They have been hunted very hard recently and the numbers are down. I think that I would use a cartridge/load for long range. The oryx are getting a little wild and like I said before they are being hunted hard. We used to have upwards of 95% success ratio on these hunts. The ratio is more like 50% success. It's a more difficult hunt. I live adjacent to the White Sands and have escorted 57 hunters on the range hunts before I retired from law enforcement.

Up from 55grns to 59grns of VARGET would be a great place to start.
Have use the 300grn A Frame quite a bit and the Woodleigh Protected point softs in 286grn.

Swift 286's are available to handloaders from this month- production for factory orders has apparently been filled.

I have used exactly the same charge with the new swifts as I have used behind the 286grn Woodleigh solids ie 57grns 203B

I was at the Cabelas store in Hartford (CT) the other day and unfortunately they didn’t have them but I found the 286 A-Frame on their web at cabelas.com.

I spent every day for six weeks before my last hunt to Africa practiseing with my 9.3x62 and primarily 250 Accubonds and RWS Factory 258 H-Mantle ammo at 300 yards.

I found the trajectory seriously adopted a rainbow shape when zeroed beyond 250 yards. When zeroed at 300 with those 250 grainers, compensating at 150 to 250 yards for rise of shot became difficult. Remaining velocity at 300 yards seemed to 'drop' the round onto the target rather than 'deliver' it with any authority.

I eventually zeroed at 200 yards with 286 Woodleighs and was fortunate to keep shots at <250 yards.

My 9.3x62 maybe capable of accurate 300 yard shots but I would not 'hunt' at that long range.
