The 1.75 x 6 would be a good variable for those inclined...

I just couldn't be happy with just one. My Ruger #1 7x57 wears a Leica 2.5-10 w/ #4 ret - simply amazing optics and works great for shorter walks and lower light/longer range conditions. For other times I've got a VXIII 1.5-5 heavy dup - that's about 1/2# lighter. In all honesty, something a bit trimmer than the Leica would be nice, but now that I've sampled it's optics it's going to be dang hard to use anything else! Regards, Robert ****************************** H4350! It stays crunchy in milk longer!

My Winchester M70 Featherweight in 7x57 would agree most heartily with your rifle. My custom Mauser in 7x57 has an older Leupold that is either a 2.5X or 3X, it doesn't say and that rife is happy with that scope. My Ruger #1A in 7x57 has a 3x9X Leupold and it hasn't complained yet. Franly though, it's the M70 that seems to get out the most for a hunt. Paul B.

I didn't vote due to the extremes, but a VX-lll in 2,5 x 8 power works perfect on mine. I would love to put a VX-7 IN 2.5 X 10, but they are a bit pricey. If I had to go fixed I would stick to a 4x.

All of those 2" to 57mm cases make such nice little rifles that are easy to carry, and drop anything under 1000lbs out to 300yds it'd be a shame to put a large, cumbersome scope on one. The average hunter won't have any problem keeping the reticle in the right spot at 300yds, with about 4X. The main reason for a high-powered scope, 3-9X or above, is to not carry binos. I've got a 9x20 "pocket-bino" sitting on the desk next to the 'putor right now. If I need to see better, they do the job, and fit on my belt or in a pocket with no trouble. The smaller scopes, say a 3X or 4X, with a 2 minute Lee dot will take care of almost any situation that should be taken on with one of these rifles. If a rifle were to be made larger, so that a larger scope wouldn't be obtrusive, I'd put a larger cartridge in the barrel, maybe an '06(270, 280 or one of the "short magnums") I've a Redfield 2X-7X on one of my smaller rifles, and it't just fine. My "go-to" is a .300WinMag with a Weaver KV on top. I must be old to have something like THAT, but I didn't buy it new, I bought it because was all I needed, as far as I could shoot. At the time, I figured that 400yds was plenty....still do! In the field, that is a long shot. Too many variables. I do have a few high-powered scopes( one is an 8-32X) so I know when to use them. enjoy, and have fun, Gene
