It's a nice rifle.!! . I'm not a 308 guy . The Hawkeye Predators that I know of are all in 6.5 Creedmoor. They are superbly accurate. Regularly ringing steel at up to 1400 yards . With factory barrels. Killing deer like there is no tomorrow. I know of a couple others in 22/250 and 243 . They are Very accurate also. I have no doubt that a Predator in 308 would be very accurate as well. Are you stuck on the 308 ? If so, the throat will last for a long long long time. And it's a great round. I just don't like having to shoot such a heavy bullet to get the BC for long range shooting . And for hunting the 6.5Creedmoor works every bit as well as the 308. . But that really isn't a distraction on the 308 if that's the cart you like. And, I think a Hawkeye Predator in 308 would last a LONG life time.

Phil Shoemaker : "I went to a .30-06 on a fine old Mauser action. That worked successfully for a few years until a wounded, vindictive brown bear taught me that precise bullet placement is not always possible in thick alders, at spitting distances and when time is measured in split seconds. Lucky to come out of that lesson alive, I decided to look for a more suitable rifle."

I regret missing out on the Crf Ruger's in 260. But having the Creedmoor has got me over it. I'm a hardcore Control Feed Ruger guy and I really like all the features of the Ruger. I think the Predator will make an awesome rifle.

Todays Ruger all seem to shoot good, they changed barrels on them sometime back and it been uphill ever since...The .308 is an excellent caliber, A laminate stock and a SS rifle is durable for sure..I personally don't care for laminate, fiberglass or stainless steel because Im a traditionalist and only care for wood and blue, but Im definatly in the minority on that..Sounds like to me your satisfied and on the right track, and your the only one that counts.
